The newregion building tools that Raph showed/teased in the February Dev Diary http://www.thelongdark.com/news/dev-diary-february-2018/
really seem to allow for some really neat map creation and features.
(Still really, really, really hoping that soeday we will get to play with those tools in supported Modding, for player-made maps.)
Love the new region, hopefully some day I will know it well enough to do more than just run through and get the heck out. The screenshot possibilities are amazing... such stunning views. :)

I suppose I should consider exploring HRV, considering right now I'm just hanging out every day for night to fall in hopes that the Aurora's out AND that the one last buffer memory I need is available to read.
The map reminds me of Timberwolf Mountain considering how desolate it is, even more so because there is no man made shelter and - aside from a few items you find on bodies, in campsites, the caves and in hidden caches - man made resources are almost non existent. On the plus side HRV is a lot easier to traverse than TWM. The weather is comparable as far as I've experienced it, not especially worse in any case.
I know what you mean. TLD is at its best when you're lost, freezing and starving in a blizzard... but at the verge of collapse discover shelter with just enough resources and food to repair some equipment, recover health and survive another day.
Yes... HRV has argueably the least amount of man made resources of all the current maps, the lack of firestarters being the most problematic. Aside from a decent amount of flares I've found a few match cartons and one lens, but it's few and far between. I really can't imagine anyone surviving this map on Interloper!
I hate it..
I moved there on loper at 1700+ days.
Allmost die 3 times.
I collected everything from there and came back last night.
Wheather there is so bad...
No cloth's xcept few shirts and a bedroll,
All ruined..
But i have to say.. at the same time i enjoyed it a lot cos it was so hard to survive there..
Regards
I went after 4 days back to Milton dont wanna risk my 287 day save.
1st place I found was the beacon and the ice cave found my self a canadian jacket at 15% a couple of other bits of clothing ruined.
A sharpening stone that imo was worth it to start,
Had a fight with a wolf 100% condition down to 15%...... WTF moment lol
Box of matches in the ice cave also worth it :D
Hidden supply catch!?!? - I didn't think these were a thing on loper
Then headed back to Milton to pick up some supplies I didn't think I needed to start with. Tools and some metal.
Just got back to the ice caves and for some reason I can a wolf howling out side the ice cave from inside. I didn't think this was a thing... It's put the willy's up me as I don't want another fight like last time lol.
