THE FUEL MASTER!
*dramatic music*
Of course, I would not mind having a liter of lamp oil last multiples of the 200 game-minutes it currently does (last time I tried to figure it out). Any advantage that does not burden me would be nice.
Since lamp oil can be produced, fuel use is not so urgent a consideration as when it was kerosene and irreplaceable.
Of course that means that only regions with ice fishing huts have sources of lamp oil.
It used to be that lantern fuel was kerosene and irreplaceable. Back then, you would husband it as much as possible since once it was gone no more lantern light unless you found some more kerosene.
But gameplay-wise... with fishing lantern fuel becomes something you do not know what to do with really fast.
Fishing has always seemed like a challenge so I never learned how to do it.
If I can get lantern fuel from fish I'll definitly have to give it a go.
Basically I understand them wanting to limit it, but it still feel oppressive.
Most light sources feel untealisticly short.
Managing good and my backpack’s weigh is engaging.
Restarting my torch every two minutes, or turning my lantern on and off is just a hassle.
1L last 4 hours (20 real minutes)
SO, it takes between 33 and 9 fish to refuel the lantern.
Each fish gives you between 36 seconds to 2 minutes and 13 seconds.
Honestly..... That's not much time per fish.
