Toilet water. . .
Would you drink this if you were dying of thirst IRL?

Depends on how long the toilet has remained unused. Considering most of the buildings carry a temperature just below that of freezing, any bacteria is probably null at that point so it would probably be safe. If I was dying of thirst IRL I'd do it, but otherwise I'd pass for just boiling up some water from snow or collecting it from a creek.

Most of the toilet water is from the reservoir behind the toilet. That's perfectly fine. The iffy ones are the toilets in the hydro dam

Most places the water that fills the toilet comes from same pipes that run water to your kitchen sink, shower, and everyplace else. From the tank? Absolutely.

From the bowl? less likely.

Absolutely

Agreed. From the tank, sure, no hesitation. From the bowl...in a survival situation yeah. Like if it was literally my last resort. Frankly I think toilet bowl water should count as unsafe in the game.

Same here

If any of us were literally DYING from thirst, we'd definitely drink from the bowl, I'm pretty certain about that. People have done much crazier things to escape death (for example eating their own dead relatives).

It's not even that gross when you think about it, because first, our toilet water is much safer than the water people drink in many poor countries, and second, our keyboards, smartphones, money, keys etc have much more bacteria on them, and do you really always thourougly wash your hands before eating something after touching any of that?

Oh, and here's a fun fact I already disturbed many people with: every time you flush the toilet, the bacteria gets blown all over the place and in most cases manages to land on your tooth brush, which you later put into your mouth, so I'm sure you've already tasted some fecal germs one way or another :steammocking:

In a heartbeat. I've had to filter mud though a mosquito head net then a sock out in the desert when the creek we expected to find turned out to have mostly dried up. Toilet water wouldn't be any worse.

Well, it could be polluted with chems by that thing you put into the bowl that keeps the bowl clean for longer times. (not sure how it's called in english - toilet bar or something like that...)

Anyway...

Water from the cistern is basically the same water that you have in your tap so I would drink it but just because it's stagnant I would at least boil it first.

Desperate times call for desperate measures...

I'd say there's a difference between mud and toilet water :P

But yeah, I've drank water from a creek that was 90% runoff water from the roads. Of course i boiled it, and also filtered it with I think it was my hat. It didn't taste good, but it didn't kill me either. :)

It's a no brainer - of course I would.

I have a feeling this subject has been discussed before, if not then one very much like it. :steamhappy:

Yeah, I've seen a couple threads about this before but just wanted to bring it up again. xD

Oh, yeah, for sure.

There would be no limit to the depths I would lower myself to if it helped me to live.
