Rope climbing mechanics
Does rope climbing affects weight, thirsty, hunger ? I know it affects REST..
I was going to Milton and were almost empty bags, climbing was easy, although in the middle of ascending there was red weight icon appeared, a bit slowed down climbing but made it with 15% free stamina, so its a win win. But now, I have robbed the Milton town and got quite some items on me, with weight of almost 40kg. Will I make it ascending the rope?

Or should I take precautions and use coffee or tea before climbing?

Climbing affects fatigue which affects carry weight

Drink coffee to reduce fatigue loss and replenish the fatigue meter itself. At least on long climbs

I always size up the rope to the top of the climb and does it look like there are any ledges to rest on the way. If the climb appears long then there are usually resting ledges. If the climb is short and my stamina bubble is almost full I don't bother with drinking a coffee as it's not needed. But on longer climbs I always drink a coffee to insure I'm not going to run out of 'ooomph!' - but nine times out of ten it's not really necessary. If I have to rest on a ledge and my stamina is low I always take a couple of hours nap, again to be on the safe side. I also make sure my overall stats are at optimum levels. I have never fallen to date, which proves that playing with caution and not taking risks pays.

So if your a cautious player as I am, do as I say and do - best be safer than sorry. :steamhappy:

But is there a difference if I come to climb with 40kg of weight (full stamina and rest) and with 30kg of weight ? Just make sure to have Rest level full?

In of itself no. But if you are climbing when your fatigue meter is relatively empty you will have more issues if you are close to your carrying capacity. As being over weight slows you down when walking

Your weight limit for rope climbing is 30kg you will not be able to climb with anything more than that - there wasn't a weight limit in the early days of the game. Also you will not be able to climb if your fatigue meter is low - not sure at which point guessing at half full. So weight and fatigue have a bearing on whether you will be able to make the climb or not. In both cases you will get the warning "Too encumbered to climb" so you will have to shed weight and/or rest. :steamhappy:

Yeah, noticed that. I had to leave some essential items on the ground to descend with a rope :/

Not all climbs have a ledge. Shorter climbs will not. The longer climbs that do will have a ledge either just past halway or near the top. You mouse over the ledge, they are pretty obvious, and have a pop-up "Ledge" tag that you click on. That puts you on the ledge, where you can build a fire to warm, a snow shelter to sleep/warm/pss time or throw a bedroll down if it will keep yu warm enough to sleep for an hour or 2 to recover from fatigue.

Careful though, there was a bug where you might get stuck on a ledge if you saved the game and exited with your character there. When you came back to the game, you were stuck and could no click on the rope to get back on and complete the climb. Not sure if that one or any of the other less common gltiches with getting back on rope from a ledge have been fixed. Only had it happen to me once, on the climb back out of the Raven Falls Ravine Basin, and that was ages ago.
