What you get, if anything, depends on your level
It happens, I have 750+ hrs in this game and this is the first time I saw this cave, and rope or even being mentioned. There are of nooks that can be found just like the gate in Broken Railroad. I keep exploring CH hoping that there a cave that nobody has found but nothing.
If you can get up from the Camp Office that would definitely make staying there a viable option.
I've not yet experience it myself, but this is likely everyone's Camp Office Cabin Fever Cave... The path from the office can be a bit steep, with risk of sprain if not careful. The slope is more gentle but longer coming from the backside (Carter, railroad) to the cave. Just don't fall down into the river access ravine, its a long way round either direction.
Yes, you can get there from camp office by hiking up the hill straight across when you walk out the door. It used to be easier but they made it a little harder now.
There's often a backpack there too. But that deer carcus is valuable on Interloper. I never use the ropes going up, but sometimes going down.
It got dark on me and a wolf picked up the scent and followed me all the way up there and I didn't know it. I started my fire by the carcus and next thing I know, I hear him growling. No worries because I had a 3-1/2 fire going, but as I was carving and cooking, I could hear him running around killing all the rabbits. I think I heard 4 rabbit squeels throughout the time.
I lit a torch and started walking to camp office. I heard him behind me so I dropped a decoy and never looked back. Made it back safely.
Serious pain for me because I was doing chores in the cave, so trapped once he was in the scared/return cycle.
I feel lucky he didn't get there a little sooner because it was night, I lit a torch and was casually picking up sticks and looting the cave. Started my fire just in time. I hurried up and ate the meat because it raised me to 2 bars and I was worried about attracting even more wolves.
You know what though, I wonder if you just drop all the meat and guts and wait if the wolf goes back to his home spot? Hard saying becuase of the rabbits. They seemed to keep spawning pretty fast as he was killing them.
ah man you were like 10 seconds away from the cave at that point.
