Dog Companion
I've had this though for a while but what would make this game ten times better? How about a dog companion that you can grow up and increase skills and its strength. Obviously you would have to feed it but the amount of dog food you find I'm fairly confident that this idea can only be good for the game. Let me know what you guys think.

great idea, or raise a wolf pup
Maybe meat as well as dog food but that would make the game more interesting.

This has been brought up several times in the past. From rescuing a lost puppy to finding a wolf pup and nursing it back to health. The main problem others brought up was how the companion would follow you from one map to the next. As any one who knows about dogs, they will find their own way from one place to another. It may take a day or two but dogs are pretty resilient and resourceful. I suggested the last time that the developers would just have the dog spawn in the area of the protagonist.

I will name it Wolfmeat.

All wonderful ideas, my idea for the finding of the pup will be as follows. Their is a cave on the map where the pup is located the area around the front and inside have a significant amount of wolves than noramal areas. Kill all the wolves pick up the pup, will weigh 5 pounds and need to be carried back to whereever you want. The pup will sit still and move around slighly but other then that no movement. Then it goes through stages of life at teen I would think its able to follow you around. Thats what ive got for now. Also from now on ill refer to the companion as Wolfmeat.

I don't think I could handle a wolf companion. I wouldn't be able to stop myself shooting it and making juicy delicious wolf steaks.

Sidenote: If you harm your wolf you automatically die instanly

I love this idea :D I’d imagine it could help you fight off attacking wolves as well. When in in a fight, six legs are better than two. Maybe we could even build a little sled for him to drag things around with? Have him “pull his own weight”? And if you don’t want to feed him, I’m sure he could go hunting rabbits to fend for himself a little (especially in places like Trapper’s Homestead, where they’re literally right out the door).

Wolfmeat, a Fallout reference? Only ever played that game once and I almost killed the poor dog thinking it was evil. Haha. Fable also had a dog companion, it can find treasure and you could play tricks with it, it was really cute.
Yep. I couldn't help myself saying Wolfmeat. xD

Quote "The developers would also have to consider what will happen during the aurora. If wolves can attack your pet what will happen if you leave it outside all night? Can you bring it inside? Make a doggy house so it's safe?"

The developers could program it to despawn on one side of the door and respawn on the other. That is pretty much what the protagonist does when he enters/exits a building. In fact, that is what happens when the protagonist goes anywhere that has the autosave function. The same can be done with a campanion, just like if he was right on your heels.

When it comes to food and water, the developers will have to make it so the protagonist can use the pans and bowls in the houses. But as far as food goes, I've never seen a dog get finicky about eating off the floor or ground.
