Wolfskin coat and bearskin coat.
Both of them scare wolves away but do the benefits stack if you wear wolfskin and bearskin coat at the same time? Or only the highest scare value matters? Anyone has any idea?

I'm pretty sure that for the wolfskin coat, it has to be equipped on the outer layer (ie, you can see it on your character) for you to get a chance for the scare effect. I'm not certain, but it doesn't seem like a stretch to make the assumption that the bearskin coat acts the same way.

I have to say I’m not convinced with this whole wearing a wolf coat frightens the wolves away. I think it depends on the level you’re playing and if you are carrying anything smelly.

I’m currently on roughly day 160 on a voyager run (currently hanging out in TWM at the mo) and I’ve probably been wearing a wolf coat for about 130 days and I get attacked by them all the time. Yes very VERY rarely will they scamper off whimpering, but it’s rare, and more often than not they’ll come back a second time anyway and will attack. If you’re carrying something smelly then forget it. They’ll attack.

This is my experience anyway

I'm also playing on Voyager around day 100, and since wearing the coat I've had a fair amount of wolves run away, I'd say it's uncommon for me, but not rare. Just in my experience.

I am playing stalker and wolves have started running away from me. I am carrying one fresh gut with me all the time as decoy... now can't even kill wolves properly. It just made me wonder if they bear and wolf stack.

It feels like 50/50 to me. First they run away and then 15 seconds later they walk back and start stalking.

No, they don't stack. And neither is a 100% to scare a wolf or wolves away. Only the outside layer counts. Inside layer loses the possible scare chance and really only gives warmth.

On Voy runs wolfskin coat has given me about 25-33 1/3% chance of a scare away, on Stalker my experience has been closer to 20-25%. But, then again, I generally go out of my way to avoid wolves, instead of trying to facetank them.

Wolf coat in OUTER place does have a tendency to scare wolves away. It's not certain, but the 50% or so of wolves who just run in terror is a welcome bonus on Stalker difficulty.

Since making the wolfskin coat a couple of days ago (and wearing it on the outer layer) I have only been approached by one wolf who snuck up on me from behind a little hill.

He immediately squealed like a baby and ran away. So it's been 100% successful for me so far!

Stalker difficulty, I was on Jackrabbit island, the wolf approached from the ice.
