Is Mackenzie Will fat?
So I own this game on Xbox and have since pre-alpha, always loved it, probably always will. I have an extemely low amount of things I dislike in the game. Besides fog, fog sucks. I came across a small thing I noticed the other day. I was 3 quarters of the way full on my hunger bar and the only thing I had at the moment was 1.43 lbs. of cooked Venison. I decided to endulge. I ended up eating the entire, nearly a pound and a half, of meat in one sitting. Let me repeat, a Pound, and a Half. I've never known a man that could eat that much in one sitting while starving, let alone while their stomach was 3 quarters full. I get the weight and amount of eating might be wonky, but this is a little silly in my opinion. Mackenzie is not a football player, how can he eat that much? Anyways, thanks to Hinterland for creating this awesome game, please continue to make excellent decisions for the game's future. I've loved this game for a long time, and all I ask is that you make it so he can't eat 1.43 lbs of Venison in one sitting. Thank you so much from one of your first 2,000 fans! (I think? XD)

Also, why does it take 1.5 hours to make one arrow? I mean, a stick, an arrowhead, some feathers, and some glue. Bam, arrow.

Where is the glue located in the frozen world? Answer probably in someone's drawer. I will kind of agree with you in that some parts of the game are not 100% realistic but that's how it is. For example why does it take so long to search an empty draw, cabinet, bin etc. Why does it take 25 straight hours to read a certain gun book.

It would be more difficult to build an aerodynamic arrow that travels a prescribed path without tumbling etc than one would think. They also need to stay whole after jarring impacts. The stresses involved are significant. An emphasis would have to be placed on quality work.

Arrows take significantly less time to make if you use a tool box

Here's the thing that ISN'T well represented in the game compared to real life, and that often confuses and is made fun of by many players: Calories consumed and when they are consumed. In a survival situation like Will's, you really need at a minimum, 3000 calories per day. Now, the average Joe typically eats about three square meals a day. So, factor that to about 1000 calories a meal. Obviously, some meals are weightier than others. Anyway, the point is you eat at pretty much predetermined times throughout the day.

In the game however, most players just eat once they get really low or completely starving, and just eat till the meter is full. Then they wonder how the survivor's stomach is cabable of consuming 4 pounds of meat in one sitting. No, its not realistic, but isn't it a bit better than restricting how much you can eat in one sitting? Anwyay, that's my two cents on the matter. Realism vs. Game Mechanics and the balance between them.

OK don't feel bad because I'd been 3 years deep into this game before I found out, but if you have a toolbox (quality tools or normal tools) in your inventory when you craft the arrow, you are given the option to use that toolbox during the crafting process. 1.5 hours bare handed, I believe 1 hour with a blue (normal) toolbox, and a half hour with quality tools.

The quality toolbox is an underappreciated support item. In fairness more people would know if the UI represented the affect better or there was a way to know about it without carrying the toolbox when one goes to craft.

100% this. I used to just leave tools behind because I thought they were worthless except for repairing hacksaws and such. They are so powerful, especially the quality ones. Always hoard and use them.

The best part about the toolboxes is you can repair them with scrap metal. My memory fails me but I believe you need two toolboxes for this--one to do the repairing, and the other to receive the repair. I may be wrong on that part. But with certainty if you have two toolboxes and access to scrap metal, you can keep your tools in top condition, which in turn allows you to keep your hacksaw in top condition and craft arrows in record time. And all this in turn allows you to continue to harvest scrap metal for further repairs and crafting.
