special trick to stoning rabbits?
ive used all the tips I could find, I can aim at a stone on the ground and hit it full on from various positions and distances. ive watched almost all the videos on youtube. in helldivers, I can snipe 3 dogs running at me from the other side of the screen with one shot of the railgun, but BY GOD I CAN NOT HIT A RABBIT WITH A STONE I JUST oyrhvufdybvyfugt8uijmklnhogiu8t7h8u do i need to sacrifice a virgin and three of my frozen fingers to get this done? Ive been at it for at least two and a half hours now and I only got them stunned twice by accident.

Stones ONLY stun. Once stunned you must pick them up QUICKLY and break their neck

if crouched you can go very close.. (on other hand I dont feel I am more successful now with crouching than before..)

Have to say I struggle on this too and its always lot of running before I hit rabbit..

Anyway, video that helped me a bit:

But brak rabbit neck is hardest part.. jsut use snares and save your trouble, rabbit meat is nothing extra anyway, so unless you need pelts..

Not hard for you, But after stunning it I am having problems with running after it, picki it up and kill it before it recovers.

Ah, sorry that I misunderstood you. I also had a few slip away early on. That is one of the reasons that I don’t crouch...I find the time involved in getting back up and then moving forward is enough delay to lose them from time to time.

The key is getting just close enough to throw 2 or 3 seconds before they will run. You can practice by getting in front of one, lining him up in your “aim sight”, and then waiting to see how large they become before they bolt. Once you have that figured out, you will be closer to them when you make the hit and can reach them for the pickup.

Breaking a rabbit's neck after missing it with a stone 12+ times is one of the most gratifying things I have encountered in the game.

thanks everyone for the replies! I've been a little busy but I'll definitely try these methods. especially the bowling one. and yes, I cant believe I havent heard it before either x) kind of a noob to survival games though so maybe thats part of the problem.

Depending on the location you can also chase them into corners and caves, so they are likely to run towards you instead of away. But yeah, it takes practice to get the hang of aiming.

I find if you try to be consistent about the distance you are throwing from, it helps. Doesn't matter so much if it's close or far, so long as the distance is the same you can get a feel for where you need to aim to hit them.

Stoning rabbits isn't that hard if you walk towards them to a decent distance and then approach them crouching since this reduces their attention zone. Ideally you want them to come towards you while crouching and get them at a close distance. Personally I just eyeball the throws and don't use the throwing-position where your mobility is limited.

Make sure to set up piles of stones in strategic areas for the next hunting opportunity; you never know the weather and the state of your own condition next time. Stones can also be useful when you wish to divert predators, since they may examine the area of the sound created from the impact.

I have given up all semblance of crouching, aiming and other such nonsense.

Instead I rely on zen and ammunition. It's mo fun, less stressful, and gets results. A few months a couple folks on here watched me do a livestream Loper start (how to get a good start on Days 1 and 2) and got to witness my Horrible (in every sense of the word) Execution of 5 rabbits by PV Farmhouse.

I've missed bunnies at pb range dead-on while crouched and hit while walking, shot across the bow as they crested a hill out of view. Nuts.

The best way to get rabbits stoned is to spike their food with certain substances, I would suppose.
