If you take your clothes off before being attacked will they get damaged?!
Ok possibly an exploit – I don’t know as I haven’t tried it, but you’re in that situation where an attack is imminent and inevitable (bear charge etc). What happens if you remove all your clothes just before being attacked. Does this save their condition I wonder?

Do you have more damage inflicted on you?

Anyone fancy giving it a ago and reporting back?! lol!

It saves their condition, but you take more damage, because clothing works like armour.

If I’m going into an area with many wolves , I sometimes take off my headgear since it gets a lot of damage in the struggles. Interloper difficulty

I've never removed clothes for wolf fights but I used to do for bears - before I worked out that it was an exploit (though many folks say it isn't - which I agree with in part because you take damage to your char if it's naked) but I still feel it's an exploit and not how the game was meant to be played. So...I don't remove them in any circumstance now, but I make sure my clothes over 75% - just in case I get into a scrap - best be prepared eh? :steamhappy:

I thought time continues to run when Menu is open.... so how would you take them of short before the attack? Not possible...correct me if iam wrong.

Many people take them off in advance, knowing they are intentionally looking to get into a struggle, or knowing they are going through an area that always has wolves. You can still take off clothing and drop gear before an attack, as long as you do so before the wolf is in full attack launch. Once they have launched the attack, you cannot open the menu to take off or drop anything. Except select your fighting weapon, and fight back.

When I've got some my deer-skin boots and trousers (and maybe some backup pelts for repairs), and I need to go into wolf-hunter mode I'll tend to take of my hats and ear warmers when I get near my target lupine, but that's it.

Never do this. Never. I learned my lesson when I had enough of wolves destroying my clothes in FM, so I took all of them off and a wolf tackled me. I died on my 233 day voyuger run.

Edit:

Although it might be a good idea to take off fragile items like ear wraps and toques.

Things that you have in your backpack can still potentially be damaged in struggles with predators. They added that feature a few updates ago so people wouldn't be taking off their clothes to save them from being damaged. Also after a struggle if you survive it you want to be checking around on the ground for stuff that gets tossed on to the ground during the struggle. Sometimes they can get to your bedroll and damage that too.
Don't get into struggles is best advice.

Mag Lens, on more than one occasion. Honestly, if I have time, I will drop it and the bedroll if I can, and not worry about clothing. But I tend to try to avoid wolf struggles at all costs.

Inventory --> switch to Clothes --> keep hitting the DROP button. In less than 3 seconds, you can completely disrobe.

Usually, you get more warning than that (specifically for the bear attack which tends to damage clothes a lot).

I was doing this the entire time while hunting the Old Bear in the campaign on my second playthrough. First playthrough ended with 2 expensive clothing articles completely ruined from 2 bear maulings, and the rest of the episode being very annoying due to poor clothes.

OP - since day one, there have been madmen and madwomen running around Great Bear Island naked, looking for fights with wild animals.

I dont agree its an exploit, but it is something I have never done, not even one time, and will not ever do.

It belittles the game - and your own experience - if you get naked and fight.

And besides, are those who do this not able to repair their gear? Isnt this part of the game, you damage stuff and need to have stocks and supplies to recover? You got 250 days Loper? Been naked fighting? Your 250 days dont count. Simple. Try playing the way intended, see if you last 50 days. Its a nonsense.

Really, I think that if it were possible to "expolit" every part of the core game, some folk would. I cannot reconcile the idea of paying money for a game you go out of your way to play in a manner that is cowardly (yes, it is), against logic and ignores the intention of the Devs.

-30 C, see a wolf, get naked? yeah, you'd be lucky to even grip your tool (pun intended), never mind actually fighting them off.

But each to their own. The above is merely my opinion.
