broken bear spear - I can't pick it up?

Well, I'm playing the story mode and my current task is to get that "magic" bear spear. So I went to the hunting lodge, went in, grabbed the broken bear spear - and that is where the mystery begins. If I aim at the place where the spear was before, there still is the hud text: broken bear spear. I can't find it in my inventory and there is no new task to proceed with the quest. What I'm doing wrong? Any idea?

Did you check your quest items? It may not appear in your normal inventory until it's been repaired at a forge. If that's not it, then I suggest you try filing a bug report as that may be a bug. You could also try reloading to an earlier point before that issue happened and try that quest again, to see if it just spawned in bugged that one time or if it's always spawning that way in your game/run.

Should be in the journal section. It's been a while since I played WIntermute so my memory is a bit fuzzy on where exactly things are there.

EDIT: BTW this really should be in the WIntermute sub forum, as this could be a spoiler for others who've just started the story.

Sorry, I didn't think about that point.
Ih the journal section I can only find every single paper notice I picked up earlier, keys and stuff like that but no spear. I just loaded an earlier autosave and try again. Thank you.

No problem. If you're still having problems after reloading, you may want to send Hinterland a Bug Report, so if it is a bug that's messing you up, they can fix it for all of us who may end up getting that same bug some time.

Just to keep this topic up to date: I tried again, starting at an earlier point in the game, just when I entered the area where the hunting lodge is located. I did everything again (same way as I did before, I think) and this time it worked.
I could pick up the spear as intended and the quest went on. So, problem solved. I don't know what happened, maybe some extremely rare and occasional bug, don't know.
However, thank you for your tipps and for your time.

And please, if a moderator happens to stumble into this topic:
It would be nice if you could move it somewhere to the wintermute sub forum, because it might be a spoiler for other players (as Seriously Unserious suggested above).

Not really, since it's the same (a little polished with latest patches) story as it was earlier. I played this game since about 3 years, I have quite a bunch of days in survival mode at several areas with several levels of difficulty. But the story has changed a lot at least with the latest update. The spear-thing is new to me and it just happened to bug somehow. :)
I love this game. In my opinion it is one of the best survival games I've ever seen.

Just tagging on to this issue. I'm currently experiencing the same glitch. I can pick up the spear, but it's nowhere to be found in my inventory. The quest doesn't update and as soon as I leave the house and enter again, the spear is hanging on the wall again.

I've tried starting from earlier saves, but nothing seems to help. What I did notice is that the wolves are also bugged. I slept in the main building in the yard to pass the night. When I got outside the wolves still had the green glow on them from the aurora, even tho it was day.

I'd suggest you use their support portal to report this to them. You're far more likely to get this to the attention of their team there then here.
