Where Can I Find The Heavy Hammer?
I'm on a Custom run with Stalker baseline for most of the settings. I've been through DP, Crumbling Highway, CH, Ravine (haven't explored the bottom part as I forgot to bring a rope and haven't found one anywhere else yet), most of ML (especially the spots on the Loper table in google docs), and no sign of any hammers. I've done Voyageur and 2 other Custom runs without having THIS much trouble finding a damn hammer. I've got plenty of saplings but now way to make arrows until I can find a hammer, and the rifle is too heavy to rely on for longer trips.

Places I've checked out thoroughly so far:
DP: Hibernia, Lighthouse, Riken, ruined church
Crumbling Highway: Cave nr DP transition, Basement
CH: Garage, All Fishing Huts, All houses, all cabins, Fishing cabins & crafting bench in back of one.
Ravine: cave off to side closest to CH entrance, Cave nr ML entrance.
ML: Carter dam (all of it, both upper and lower), dam trailer closest to Ravine, Firewatch tower, Trapper's cabin, Camp Office (currently there having slept through the umpteenth afternoon blizzard since arriving a few days ago, pretty much a daily occurrence, more like PV weather then ML weather, lol).

Not yet checked:
CH: Firewatch tower (maybe when I get there Delilah will be there :steammocking:)
Ravine: Bottom-most area due to lack of rope to get down there
ML: Fishing Huts, Lake Cabins, cabin between trappers and unnamed pond, ruined tower, logging camp trailers

Maybe in one of the few places I've missed? I don't recall ever seeing a heavy hammer in any of those places though, but maybe someone else who's done more runs has seen it at one of those places?

The hammer does sometimes spawn in the train car in the ravine.

Also be sure to check all ice fishing huts in ML.

The farm in Milton is a reasonable bet.

To check the ravine, I'll have to hope I find a rope somewhere in ML, otherwise I'll have to go back to CH, get the rope I forgot there, and make another trip. MT's going to have to be a separate trip, even through I'm next door, I wasn't prepared for going further then ML, and am taking WAY longer in ML due to all the damn blizzards, I can only get 1/2 half a day of exploring in if I'm lucky, then the rest is sitting in some building waiting for the blizzard to end, which is usually just in time to sleep off the night. Wasting my food supplies in a hurry with that nonsense.

Anyhow, I'll try those locations out as soon as I can, probably after going back to my main supply cache at CH and re-gearing up for a longer search. I've got a lot of cooked meat and fish stored up at CH (outside in the show of course) which I'd like to get to before it starts going off. I'm hoping I don't have to go into any out of the way regions like TWM, HRV or BR (I hate that region). I'd rather take on the more wilderness regions AFTER I have my bow and arrows ready, not to get the one thing I'm missing to GET my bow and arrows ready. I really don't want to have to be lugging my heavy rifle all the way to TWM for when I need to do some hunting, let alone lugging it all over HRV with me.

With that list, you should have probably found two by now. Are you searching without a light?

CH has potential hammer spawns at the outdoor workbench at the fishing camp, in a car between the fishing camp and commuter's lament, and the fishing hut between the fishing camp and jackrabbit island.

In ML, it can be at trappers, the lookout tower, and the dam.

You're at camp office. Go out the front door, climb the hill right in front of you, and take the rope from the lake overlook.

Also in the ravine there can be a rope in either the train car or that cave at the rail branch line.
Otherwise yeah, the rope at Lake Overlook is easy

Of course there is always the TWM summit for all your hammer needs :)

There should be more easy to find hammers though. Even in Interloper you can find 3-4 hammers

There's always a rope in the dam, on the lower part of the upper level.

If you have stalker baseline loot, and you haven't found one yet in all those places, there's pretty much guaranteed atleast one hammer at Spence's or the bunkhouses nearby. I think it's always there on stalker, but not sure.

I use a custom stalker, and so far I've always found a hammer at Hibernia (this is over 60 starts cos I try to beat my own time for totally looting DP then start again :-p)

I do have several lanterns stashed in key points at CH and starting to build up a key points stash in ML as I go through it looking for the elusive hammer. Right now it feels less like Heavy Hammer and more like MC Hammer teleporting to wherever I'm not while laughing at me and singing "You Can't Touch This".:steamhappy: Anyways, I have used the lanterns when searching buildings that tend to be dark, but haven't really had any need of that in daylight or in the fishing huts, where I can spot stuff under/around the cupboards and stove quite easily. I've found about 4-5 prybars, at least 1 or 2 where in fishing huts, and found an axe in the first ML hut I searched. manged to find a 2nd hut while stumbling about in the obligatory afternoon blizzard, but as yet no hammers.

I did luck out and find a broken arrow somewhere, so I have the materials to make at least 1 arrow now, but that won't do much good as frequently as they've been despawning on me since SR, so I'll need the ability to make a decent supply of arrowheads.

I'm aware of the nearly garenteed spawn on TWM, but don't want to go there without the bow. I need either the bow or rifle for hunting and keeping up my well fed benefit and I prefer not to use the rifle on long journeys, especially those involving rope climbs as that limits how much other important gear I can carry in, and how much I can carry out of dead end maps like TWM again later. The way I look at it, there's 3 essential pieces of gear to tackle TWM summit runs

1- Hacksaw - can't get at the good loot without it
2- bedroll - need to sleep off those rope climbs up somehow and ice shelters are too expensive and wolves too plentiful in all the wrong areas to risk it
3- bow - need a hunting weapon that's lightweight enough to carry around without going over the weight limit
Nice to have - Moose satchel - that extra 5 kilos of carry weight is a must with all the rope climbs and big loads of gear from the cargo containers scattered about the region.

Not this time, no rope in carter, those are very hard to miss, big and brightly coloured as they are, must have spawned at another location I haven't been to yet in ML. Definitely not garenteed in Spence. My run just before this on Custom with Voyageur loot had no heavy hammer at Spence That run I started in BR and got as far as ML before the SR update hit and I decided to start a new run. Still with this many places eliminated as possible hammer spawns, I'd expect one to be either at Spence, Paradise Meadows, or PV farmstead, either in the house/basement or the big red barn.

Perhaps try Mountain Town, in loper you can find it inside Päradise Farm, at Workbench, or at trailer close to church. 3 chances.

In TMW containers you may find half dozen of Heavy Hammer :steammocking:

Based on all the places you haven't found it, this is the best bet. No point going all the way out to PV if it's right under your nose near ML.

Hit us with an update when you find it.. I'm curious. :steamhappy: :StopHammerTime:
Good idea. I'd have to go back that way anyways to get back to my main base in CH to resupply, so if I can find that rope, it would be on my way, that is assuming the log bridge in Ravine is working for me to even get back to CH, which was very bugged out on my way in, at the ML side, the snow bank almost dumped me down into the ravine as it bugged me out towards the precipise. God I hope Hinterland gets the bugs with those log bridges sorted out soon as they're going to make certain popular and essential region transitions nearly impossible to use.

If it's not there, my next pick would be PV and the barn and main farmhouse.

ML was a bust both for the hammer and the rope. At this rate I'll name the hammer John Cena because so far I can't see it!:steammocking:

Checking Ravine's a bust for now without that rope, which I'll new have to go all the way back to the fishing cabins in CH to collect the rope I forgot there when I first set out and come back to check again. For now I'll probably skip a check at the bottom of the Ravine and go right to PV once I've re-stalked from my supply stash in CH. Hopefully one of the hammer spawns there will pay off. I've never had THIS much trouble finding a damn hammer, sheesh!

Have to say I completely agree. ML overlook ALWAYS has two ropes and you can collect one at least. Ravine not so much, last few custom stalker had no ropes at all, (but i'd already got the hammer MWUAHAHA)
Seriously though, after seeing the op I tried another four runs with a dp start and found a hammer every time

I have NEVER, in ANY mode of game play, not seen 2 deployed ropes at the ML overlook. Ditto for climbing rope on the back cabin/cave corner of the lake. You can almost count on one in the top level train car in the ravine. If that were my game, and there were actually no ropes in ML, I would bail on it.
Perhaps I wasn't clear, I meant no undeployed ropes I could use at the climbing spot in the Ravine that has no rope predeployed. I do have a rope I could use, but have a long trek back and forth to get it, due to making a dumb mistake and forgetting to pick it up when I was preparing my gear for the trip.

Anyhow, I'll check the upper boxcar for a rope, and if it's not there, I'll just have to check the Ravine on another trip through and look elsewhere for a hammer. My next target will be to see if there's one in PV, hopefully the weather there will be less blizzard-heavy then it was in ML, so I can actually do some exploring and searching and less hunkering in buildings and waiting for a break in the weather while it's actually daylight and I can actually see a hammer if one is there.

Seriously. There's 3 guaranteed ropes on the lake in ML. Just go get one already.

Like I keep saying, you're making it harder on yourself than you need to. At this rate, you might as well just go to the summit of TWM. There's hammers everywhere if you just listen to the advice we are all giving you.
I HAVE BEEN! I've gone to all the places and NO EFFING HAMMER! I'm now In PV, just cleared the barn, no hammer, just cleared the farm house basement, no hammer, just cleared the farm house, no hammer. Now heading up to the radio tower to check if it's there. If not, I'll be starting to wonder if the loot tables are bugged, I perfectly well know I SHOULD have found a hammer by now, but nothing. I've been through most of ML, all the spots I usually can pick up a rope and nothing in that regard too. The only rope I know of is one I found in CH, which I'll have to go back and pick up when I'm ready to head back through ravine.

The whole point of searching for the damn hammer is to GET the bow and arrows READY FOR TWM. I do NOT want to be lugging a heavy ass rifle up all those rope climbs so I can hunt and feed myself while I'm up there as I do NOT want to have to deal with TWM's rope climbs without the well fed benefit either.

So basically, I've cleared DP, CrH, CH, most of ML, and part of PV and still no hammer. I've never had THIS much trouble finding a damn hammer in any of my runs before, nor have I seen any Youtubers, have this much trouble!

I know there's supposed to be a garenteed spawn of at least 1 rope in ML, but nope, not this time. I know there should have been at least 1 heavy hammer across all the regions I've explored so far, but again, nope, not this time.

And I don't appreciate your tone and attitude of acting as if I'm being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or stupid. You can take your attitude and insults and shove them where the sun don't shine.

What I do appreciate is all the constructive comments others have posted to narrow down the search a bit. Otherwise I'd have no choice but to exhaustively scour every single map for the hammer and probably wouldn't find it until day 100 or some ridiculous thing.
