Also be sure to check all ice fishing huts in ML.
The farm in Milton is a reasonable bet.
Anyhow, I'll try those locations out as soon as I can, probably after going back to my main supply cache at CH and re-gearing up for a longer search. I've got a lot of cooked meat and fish stored up at CH (outside in the show of course) which I'd like to get to before it starts going off. I'm hoping I don't have to go into any out of the way regions like TWM, HRV or BR (I hate that region). I'd rather take on the more wilderness regions AFTER I have my bow and arrows ready, not to get the one thing I'm missing to GET my bow and arrows ready. I really don't want to have to be lugging my heavy rifle all the way to TWM for when I need to do some hunting, let alone lugging it all over HRV with me.
CH has potential hammer spawns at the outdoor workbench at the fishing camp, in a car between the fishing camp and commuter's lament, and the fishing hut between the fishing camp and jackrabbit island.
In ML, it can be at trappers, the lookout tower, and the dam.
You're at camp office. Go out the front door, climb the hill right in front of you, and take the rope from the lake overlook.
Otherwise yeah, the rope at Lake Overlook is easy
Of course there is always the TWM summit for all your hammer needs :)
There should be more easy to find hammers though. Even in Interloper you can find 3-4 hammers
If you have stalker baseline loot, and you haven't found one yet in all those places, there's pretty much guaranteed atleast one hammer at Spence's or the bunkhouses nearby. I think it's always there on stalker, but not sure.
I did luck out and find a broken arrow somewhere, so I have the materials to make at least 1 arrow now, but that won't do much good as frequently as they've been despawning on me since SR, so I'll need the ability to make a decent supply of arrowheads.
I'm aware of the nearly garenteed spawn on TWM, but don't want to go there without the bow. I need either the bow or rifle for hunting and keeping up my well fed benefit and I prefer not to use the rifle on long journeys, especially those involving rope climbs as that limits how much other important gear I can carry in, and how much I can carry out of dead end maps like TWM again later. The way I look at it, there's 3 essential pieces of gear to tackle TWM summit runs
1- Hacksaw - can't get at the good loot without it
2- bedroll - need to sleep off those rope climbs up somehow and ice shelters are too expensive and wolves too plentiful in all the wrong areas to risk it
3- bow - need a hunting weapon that's lightweight enough to carry around without going over the weight limit
Nice to have - Moose satchel - that extra 5 kilos of carry weight is a must with all the rope climbs and big loads of gear from the cargo containers scattered about the region.
If it's not there, my next pick would be PV and the barn and main farmhouse.
Checking Ravine's a bust for now without that rope, which I'll new have to go all the way back to the fishing cabins in CH to collect the rope I forgot there when I first set out and come back to check again. For now I'll probably skip a check at the bottom of the Ravine and go right to PV once I've re-stalked from my supply stash in CH. Hopefully one of the hammer spawns there will pay off. I've never had THIS much trouble finding a damn hammer, sheesh!
Seriously though, after seeing the op I tried another four runs with a dp start and found a hammer every time
Anyhow, I'll check the upper boxcar for a rope, and if it's not there, I'll just have to check the Ravine on another trip through and look elsewhere for a hammer. My next target will be to see if there's one in PV, hopefully the weather there will be less blizzard-heavy then it was in ML, so I can actually do some exploring and searching and less hunkering in buildings and waiting for a break in the weather while it's actually daylight and I can actually see a hammer if one is there.
The whole point of searching for the damn hammer is to GET the bow and arrows READY FOR TWM. I do NOT want to be lugging a heavy ass rifle up all those rope climbs so I can hunt and feed myself while I'm up there as I do NOT want to have to deal with TWM's rope climbs without the well fed benefit either.
So basically, I've cleared DP, CrH, CH, most of ML, and part of PV and still no hammer. I've never had THIS much trouble finding a damn hammer in any of my runs before, nor have I seen any Youtubers, have this much trouble!
I know there's supposed to be a garenteed spawn of at least 1 rope in ML, but nope, not this time. I know there should have been at least 1 heavy hammer across all the regions I've explored so far, but again, nope, not this time.
And I don't appreciate your tone and attitude of acting as if I'm being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or stupid. You can take your attitude and insults and shove them where the sun don't shine.
What I do appreciate is all the constructive comments others have posted to narrow down the search a bit. Otherwise I'd have no choice but to exhaustively scour every single map for the hammer and probably wouldn't find it until day 100 or some ridiculous thing.
