Ah yes, forgot about that one.
Never heard that before, as long as I can remember respawning cedar and fir limbs are supposed to be a main source for firewood. Does any one know if you can make recycled wood from limbs or is once you go through all the boards, furniture and pallets is it the end?
I know there are a lot of stuff to make recycled wood from but it looks like you should be able to make hammer/hatchet handles and rabbit traps from branches.
Can't find the post I'm thinking of, but the language in MM dispatch #35 is interesting. When specifically asked if "the region simply wiped of all objects and repopulated with loose objects (Like limbs, branches, sticks and stones)" after a blizzard, the response concerning items respawning is that "after Blizzards, you will find that Sticks have been replenished". No mention at all of limbs. Which is not conclusive, of course, but seems like a strange omission were limbs intended to respawn.
Edit: as for the recycled wood, there is a 'limited' supply of it ('limited' in quotes because you'd have to play an absurd amount of time to exhaust it without intentionally doing so), but once made into a snare it only needs more cured guts to repair.
Reclaimed wood isn't a bad source of fuel, but as said sticks and coal can be your main fuel. You will spend a lot of time collecting sticks, but it also gives you good excuse to be outside.
Cutting down limbs is fine on lower difficulties, but not very practical on Interloper.
Yes, as the weather cools I find it a rare moment when I can harvest a cedar branch without taking a condition hit. Fir? Forget it. A 25% condition hit for 3 fir. Worth it? Probably not!
