Walk vs. Run
Just curious, if I cover the exact same distance walking as I do running, do I burn the same amount of calories, or is walking more efficient?

Watch the arrows next to your meters. Sprinting burns a lot more calories. Doesn't matter when you're already starving though

Yes I see that the sprinting burns more but I'm left wondering if the quicker trip makes up for it, you know? If I'm covering the exact same 50 yards in a sprint that takes me 10 seconds or a walk that takes me 30 seconds am I burning the same calories overall?

MATH! XD

Fatigue drops a LOT faster sprinting than it does walking. So while a calorie difference may or may not exist (never checked tbh), I think the fatigue burn from sprinting is what hurts the most.

Hm, true. I tend to think I'm burning calories as fast as the fatigue bar is going down when I'm playing, but that's what the food bar's for, hehe. I wish there was a way to reduce how much fatigue we blow through, that's the real limiter when it comes to travel I think. (I'm still a novice survivor though so what do I know, hehe)

Caloric use increases with sprinting compared to walking, but I haven't done the science to say if it's a wash, more efficient for same distance or worse. However, it's almost NEVER worth it for day to day actions to use sprinting over walking because of the massive drain on fatigue. That's not something that a little chow down fixes.

That's what coffee does...

Gives you the benefit 'reduced fatigue' for a while, best used when you need to climb a rope...

It's fine. Normal fatigue depletes at a rate where you it will last about the whole day. So you can be out from morning to evening.
Rope climbing eats through it very fast so you can't climb too much without using coffee or stims. Which is fair. Makes mountaineering something to plan for.

There's a simple joy in running
with the icy wind all in your hair
and shouting as you sprint about
I'm a moose! I'm a wolf! I'm a bear!

That's dangerous! You could get shot if anyone needs the skin xP

I think someone did the math and running is equally efficient as walking with calories. However, the fatigue hit is still so bad that don't run unless you have a good reason. You never know when that extra half sprint can come in handy.

I often find that calorie burn isn't that big of a deal- often, my main resource is fatigue. If you're on a long trip, never sprint unless you're in danger or you've got coffee.
