HRV: my beloved hated map
Every time I read about HRV, the opinions differ: some love it, some hate it.

I mapped all regions except TWM and HRV, where I am atm, trying to get 3 or 4 spots in the map. I think it's a really amazing map, authentic puzzle and a really headache.
I try to memorize where I got to and where I come from, but some how, I keep getting lost.
Even using Whiteberry's maps, the heights on this region makes it really hard to follow a 2d map.
I love it, but I get so frustrated when I come here.
Affff.

The map has several distinct regions. There is the area around Stairsteps Lake. Then there is an area above that. Then another leve around Monolith Lake. Then the basin far below. And the signal fire plateau.
They are connected by ropes, ice caves and sometimes shortcuts you can just walk. But exploring them bit by bit really helps in getting around

I hated it before I loved it. But I love it now.

Because HRV is unique in not having any crafting table, you're always on borrowed time. For me, planning is key: you need to have sufficient materials crafted to carry you through for each foray, and a clear plan to get back to Milton with the pelts and other materials you've gathered and re-craft for your next 'mission'. This is especially true on Interloper - arrows end up being the limiting step.

HVR is good for spawn and stay they 100 days, in Stalker, because will find a rifle and can hunt.

Is pit that the second bench in MT was not inside the transition cave, because cross the cave for use bench in trailer broken the immersion of HVR. Inside cave the bench will serves both regions.

It really helped me to stand on a couple high points and just look around. I feel like I really understand the layout now after being able to see the whole map form one place.

I break it up into mini-regions as well, makes it much easier to deal with. I'm there currently on a 300+ day Loper run, my first visit to HRV on this run. I attack in this order: Stairsteps Lake area, adjacent basin (above river), Hushed River, Monolith Lake area, Mammoth Falls area, NW area (via ice cave), Signal Fire area (upper), Basin.

Curing/crafting at the MT Trailer is a tried and true method of long-term survival in HRV. I like to bring more arrows (and extra shafts) and cloth than I think I will need, because it never hurts. There is a TON of natural resources to harvest. I'm looking for my first HRV moose soon.

Love the wild regions TWM/FM/HRV :coffeeTLD:

300+ days on Loper is awesome, JayXL ... Stay warm in HRV!

Tried that but did not succeed :) Maybe I will retry.
