lighting at night wierd?
so i noticied light reflecting off an object changes as u walk closer/further away from it. I was walking in the woods and the lighting was moving all over the place. it looked like search lights when i moved but the lighting didnt move if i didnt move.

This example is bad but it gets the point across. i just didnt want to turn back to get pics when i was in the woods

?

Your proximity and angle (view) of the rock with snow is different, so of course the way the light reflection is different. And... the sun and moon move across the sky, in game time goes much faster then IRL time. 1 minute IRL time = 12 minutes in-game time (1:12 time ratio) on default 1x day length settings. You may not realize how much the moon has changes position in the sky as you move through the world.

ill have to go back to the same area i was in at night cuz it looked really wierd. it really looked like spotlight movment. then id move back and the light would go back into position. it wasnt moon light movment.

I've had a similar issue. On the rocks and snow, there's light as if there was another source where there shouldn't be. The rocks glow oddly, almost giving the illusion of a light source around the corner or something. It's definitely a thing, I'll try and get some more obvious screenshots.

Hmmmm. might be a little realistic also? When in the middle of the night, except on very cloudy days, I find the the world is NOT as dark as we think. A bright star lite sky can cast a pale greyish light on the landscape and I have even seen shadows at midnight outside.

Fun fact. Your vision at night is much better in your peripheral vision than in the center. Next time your're outside at night and far enough away from any forms of light pollution try looking at things off-center. It takes a bit of getting use to, but you'll be surprised by how better you can "see" and this is because there are more rod cells than cone cells on the outer edge of your retina.

That makes more sense now to me. I could always track or walk in night wilderness fine....I had to have been using that peripheral vision more than I thought.....automatic??
