a- AURORA BOREALIS?!
AT THIS TIME OF YEAR?
AT THIS TIME OF DAY?
IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY,
LOCALIZED ENTIRELY WITHIN GREAT BEAR?
or take take the chance to use some decaying medical supplies and burn yourself on arcing wires for fun.
play with the flashlight
enjoy the lights
listen to the radio
boost up your wolf close encounter numbers by maxing scent and standing in a street lamp.
or sleep through it, like i do. I've seen maybe half the aurorae that have occured because i slept through it. I thought they were rare, but they happen about every 5-6 days..
light doesn't really matter for repair, as it's almost always bright enough outside during night to repair.
This. Anything you need light in order to do, but don't want to use daylight/firewood to do it is best done during an Aurora. I prefer to craft or read. I don't need repairs too often I've noticed.
Of course you can always go sightsee, but it's a bit risky.
It's also a bit risky to make too much of a habit of being up at night, if you're on Stalker and up (or have Rest as Resource on in Custom) then you can really bork up your day/night fatigue cycles, not unlike real life. Makes for tricky relocating when you're nearing exhaustion mid afternoon.
*ahem*
EDIT: staying up late doesn't really matter that much in game. sleep cycles can easily be reset to normal with pass time + sleep, especially if you're camped out near a car.
Uh, what? That all depends on where you're located, and how the weather is. In general, you can't sew in low light, and again, I really don't repair things enough to know strictly what you can and can't repair in the dark. I'll assume nothing.
The moonlight is not a constant, assuming the moon shifts like the sun does. I'm not going to go out into a clearing to repair my Rifle at midnight jsut to save an hour of daylight... that I then more than likely lose by needing to reset my sleep cycle. As far as I can tell there's no real reason to repair anything at all, unless it's nearing Ruined threshold and you don't have spares. Tool condition, at this point, affects the Rifle and.. not much else from what I've noticed. Rifle lower condition just increases jam chance and I can't think of anything else that "malfunctions" when at low condition. Scrap metal has far better uses than repair, again, unless you're nearing Ruined threshold and don't have backups.
Regardless, the topic of the thread is things to do during an Aurora, the fact that you can sometimes repair at night anyway isn't of much benefit.
Never bring a dull edge to a wolf fight.
Keep your warmest clothes in as good condition as your cloth supply allows - 30% better condition can mean vital extra warmth on good quality gear
Repairing stuff is good for you.
Easiest way to start a fire
;)
And sing "Poker Face" to wolfies while doing so?
Probably not a good idea... but it could be fun. Maybe. ;)
