You can carry over the wieght limit, but the more overburdened you become, the slower you will move, you will lose sprinting and climbing abilities, and eventually, if you have too much, you character will not be able to move at all.
Best thing to do is to learn what you absolutely MUST carry at all times, and leave the other stuff behind. There is a ton of loot in the wolrd, on any mode but Interloper, so when you have to travel far to change regions, you are quite likely to find what you need on the next map.
Look at what you are hauling around that is weighing you down. If you have a base, or multiple bases, you can likely leave most of it at one of them while you are out doing tasks for the day, like gathering firewood. You generally do not need to carry 3 toolboxes, regular or qulaity with you everywhere. Repair your tools to top condition, drop the extra tools and the toolboxes at base, and carry only what you need for your day's plans.
It takes time. And believe me, even after all of my time playing, i still have to fight the urge to carry everything with me, like I can in aRPG's. Inventory management is much more important in this game than in most other games, since we don't have magical rifts or portals to zip back to town to offload excess. It just takes time to get used to. You'll get there.
Nope. Survival only for now. Maybe in one of the future 3 Episodes left to come, we will get this in Wintermute, but not right now in Ep 1 or 2.
Be careful, though, if you're playing any but the easiest mode the moose will charge way before a wolf would. It moves very fast, and it will mess you up. It will take at least three arrows to kill. I had to shoot it twice in the face with the rifle.
But worth it for +5 kg of carrying capacity!
