When RS first released I was experimenting with a Pilgrim, new run, found bow/arrow in Hunting Lodge.

Kept scum saving trying to hit and bleed it (btw like a bear if you surprise attack it from the flank it runs away)

Anyway, couldn't bleed it. Can't, don't bleed. One time my L1 Archery Pilgrim TLD Warrior-King with a 60% Simple Arrow onesy'd a moose with shot directly to its buttocks region.

I think it died of shame.

Did testing, after Rugged Sentinel update arrived and about 1 of 6 hits were critical and oneshoted Moose on level 2 archery

2 hits on Interloper L1 archery for me. Can't tell the area where the arrow hit, as I fired from a long distance to avoid getting bamboozled. Did some scumsaving testing, and apparently it is not a good idea to stand in front of it and wait 'till it gets close to score a hit between the eyes, especially because it's head is swaying as it's running toward you.

(stalker, lvl archery 2) 3 hits - one to the leg, one to the butt and one do the neck from front. did not die. i could see the arrows sticking up from his body. still not dead. it died after one additional gunshot. so yes, its a tough guy..

Found out accidentally, while trying to get a better position - releasing the arrows from above may improve the odds of scoring a critical hit to the body. After only 2 such experiences (and I was level 4 archery already) - a 1-hit bear and a 2-hit moose from far, far away - it is just a theory. Could have been pure luck, but I think it is worth testing. There were no head shots. Didn't even try that, I was only having a nice long-distance-coffee-break-hunt from a remote, safe location.

Just found out that three shots of the flare gun does zilch, nada, nothing except provide a rather interesting light show as the moose thunders around in panic trying to shake them off. :steamsad:

As far as I can tell, they don't bleed out. Moose killing is all about just doing enough damage, or getting a good kill shot in. I ran into one on my stalker run today - first shot was a long one that drew blood, second one was close up as he charged (after which I ducked inside to hide). For the third I came back out of the little cabin by the pond in ML, and decided to go on the offense, so I scooted up the fallen tree and waited. Two arrows in him, and he was back on his grazing behaviour even though he looked like a pincushion. He got close and I pegged him a third time, at which point he finally dropped. An absolute riot, since I was archery 4 at that point, and the first one I got I took down in CH by the quonset, with a snap-shot from the rifle from across the road, and got him in one with skill level 1. Anyways, you can't bleed them. Plan accordingly.

Well done! I haven't tried with an arrow yet. I used my rifle from a safe distance on a rock near the dam. The moose was in the river almost to the dam bridge. I shot him dead with one shot. I was super surprised that it was so easy to do. I may try an arrow next time.

I have only seen one moose in a 156 day run. Lots of marks, no moose tho. I have yet to even shoot at one. Hoping my luck changes soon.
