Clothing Decay(Blizzard/Wind)
Does anyone know if your clothing decays faster when "Protected" but out in a blizzard or heavy wind?

I often go outside just to reduce chance of Cabin Fever and stand out of the wind.

Not sure if I'm putting excess wear on my clothing doing this though. Couldn't find any info on it in the wiki.

Wind damages your clothing (outer/exposed layers)
If you are in a cover from wind (shield icon appears) clothing should not decay as fast.

Rrrrr good question. As far as I can tell from the wiki (lol), clothes decay by day spent worn indoors, worn outdoors, and stored. Which also makes me question either the wiki or bothering to take clothes off for sleeping, since if they're "off" that puts them in an ambiguous state according to the wiki.

So okay, you wear clothes outdoors for a blizzard. We all know your clothes take a hit from the blizzard, but is it high winds? (Well, yes, of course, but not sure about game mechanics). A blizzard is a very specific weather tracked in our journal which is different from high winds and snow. I've long since quit caring if -16C winds are decaying my clothes worse than -8C winds...if it's windy, the temp is tolerable, and I've got places to go, I'm going.

Hopefully the game recognizes a windshield is protection. ALl I can advise for proving it is if I spent any appreciable amount of time in a blizzard, any at all even a short run from the woods around Trapper's to Trapper's, I can tell the clothes have been hit for a point or two. So if you're spending a lot of time doing your scenario you should be seeing a noticeable decay in your clothes. Say you passs time in 3 stints for 2 hours by going "around the corner". Two hours in a blizzard would tear your clothes up purty good. You'd notice.

game distinguishes between stored/worn inside/ worn outside

edit: im 99.9% sure wind protection counts, because your clothes do not get wet when protected from wind and i belive it's intertwined

Yes - your gear is protected when you're out of the wind. Nothing shreds your clothes faster than being caught out in a blizzard where you're trying to walk into the wind. The longer you stay out in the wind the more it'll damage your clothes - depending on the severity. The clothes you craft are more durable. I've had 100% condition clothes get ruined trying to get across open ice more than once. Sometimes you're better off removing your clothes and running naked - because it doesn't matter if you're at three arrows down with feels like temps.
Just today went from desolation point to the Coastal Townsite - I had 100% condition gauntlets when I left and those were at 76% by the time I reached the townsite. It got really windy on the way. And it depends on which setting you're playing on. Interloper is really super harsh on your clothes.
