I personally have never seen a bear or wolf cross a tree bridge, but I can't say 100% that they cannot. I have just never seen it myself. And there have been bugs where wolves and bears have clipped through walls or doors at fishing huts, and have clipped through car dors and hunting blind floors. I don't think they are supposed to be able to, but it has happened. Not sure if that bug has been fixed or not.
So, Astrid was staying at the abandoned preppers hatch in PV on voyager and she had decided she wanted to make a bear coat. I had tested the blinds with wolves, but never a bear. The wolves never came after me in the blinds, so I figured it was safe for bears too. She goes to the blind near the hatch in the late evening. A bear passes right passed that blind, goes up a hill and then turns around and heads back towards his cave, heading straight for the blind. She waits, crouched, for him to head back and when he gets almost to the blind, she stands up and shoots him. He charges the blind and then goes around it (enraged) and starts to walk off towards his cave. She raises her rifle and shoots him in the butt and he turns around and comes straight at the entrance to the blind and INTO the blind and attacks her. OUCH! She now picks herself up off the floor, bandages herself up and realizes the bear is in the blind, walking in place towards the back of the blind. She can see through him. So, she plans on sneaking out of the blind, walking around to the back and shooting him point blank in the face. The bear had other ideas. He attacked her again as she was trying to get out and when she picked herself up this time, he was out and walking back towards his cave.
She crawled back to her shelter and went to bed. The next day he was dead over the hill and she had her bear! This whole thing was gliched, because you don't live through two bear attacks in a row, I mean, she didn't even need to use a stem and none of her clothes were ruined and that just doesn't happen. lol So, to answer your question, YES, they can get you in the blinds.
I'm probably one of the very few who got double tapped by a bear and lived to tell the tale. I like to think of it as the Double Tapped Bear Club.
And please forgive me for all the mistakes in grammar and punctuation. (I got a little excited telling my story)
>be newbie playing TLD for only a couple of hours
>first bear sighting
>me in enclosed porch of PV farmstead, bear 20ish meters away
>see the bear walking away
>stupid me wants to observe bear and thinking "if anything goes wrong i just fall back onto porch"
>bear turns and notices me, but no attack
>"hmmm maybe he's not hostile all the time"
>me backing up, bear standing up...
>bear charges
>me missing door going backwards, bumping into wall
>be me
>be dead
I turn to follow it and its head is clipped thru the wall of the hut. I must have been game inches from being in its engagement zone.
Word to the wise. Whatever it is creating a safe zone, be sure you're in it. Porch railing like at fish camp in CH? Back to the wall.
Huntin Blind? Fish Hut? Be as close to the exact center as possible...your condition is on the line.
sugarland, the behavior your describing where the bear broke off its charge and went home HAD to be because you were (lol) out of bounds. When you took your second shot if you moved up to the wall of the blind (likely if you were able to see the bear) then it was able to attack you and it charged.
Still...two maulings. That is rare. Call her Molly now?
They are very rare.
Ah well, lesson learned.

In the latest updates several animal waypoints go though house - so stay away of the range that trigger the fight even if they look stuck in the wall.
