Storm Lantern Condition?
Does the condition of a Storm Lantern affect how quickly it may go through the oil you feed it?
Like the lower the condition the less efficiently it will use oil?

This question has haunted me as well. Is there any reason to repair a storm lantern at all?
Not yet, and since arrowheads are more useful, I don't think I'll ever repair mine. I don't see any reason why it'd go down in condition either.

I think the reason it has condition is that it can get damaged during wolf struggles, bear attacks or moose tramplings (or so I've heard). So if my magnifying glass or lantern is < 20% I tend to think about whether I need it on my (unless of course I forget, which if often).

Yes you can repair lanterns, with a toolbox and a scrap metal.

How did I not know that?
It's not a matter of if you can repair it. It's rather, do you need to? As arrowheads are far more valuable, especially with flashlights around + turning up the brightness.

Samuel .... why do you worry about arrowheads being more valuable. I am in a 120+ day run and have not forged any arrowheads, I have not lost any and have aquired a total or 9 so far. Since they dont break or wear down I dont see how using a single piece of metel is going to affect anything in the long run.

I'm doing a Pilgrim run meant to last as long as possible. I want to micromanage from the very beginning.

Sir, you will live until (insert appropriate quippy time-frame reference---next Presidential election, Second Coming, Hell freezin' over, etc.)

Arrows disappear all the damn time. I actually just made a post about it in the technical issues forum. It's an old issue. Things just get stuck under the terrain for some reason. Lost maybe four just last night that way.
But I enjoy the long game.
Though, now with Custom being a thing... I feel it's almost pointless, save to find out where everything is on all the maps.

If I have only 1 lantern and it's at low condition, I repair it. If a bear mauls me I'd prefer my lamp survive. Scrap is not a limiting resource in any practical regard. No matter how valuable arrow heads seem - I'll run out of cloth or birch 1000's of days before I run out of scrap.

Fair point. I think I might consider for the long haul once I've collected everything, to just place a lantern at certain points, so I don't have to travel with one on me.
