Wolves hanging around 13 hours ??!!
Having got bored with Interloper i've been back on Stalker again. I've a feeling that this game cheats you (like many others do). I'm in one of several huts on the highway and I step outside there to see a wolf only feet away. I rush back in and pass 1 hour. There's not much to do - no sewing kit, few possessions. I step outside again and wolf is still around so I go back in. I sleep 2 hours thinking the bustard will be gone on waking. I step outside, wolf still close by! Go back in, pass 2 hours, then sleep 3 hours. Go outside, wolf waiting!!! Eat, drink as usual then sleep another 6 hours. Now I have to venture out in the dark. Oh, but there's wolfie still waiting!

Nothing like being kept prisoner, eh? Like some other games are prone to do, this one has decided it's time for an attack on me and therefore won't relent until I am savaged. I think I could stay cooped up for weeks eating and sleeping and still the wolf would be waiting around.

I guess this game just isn't for me! Pity there isn't a game version with sparse supplies about but no f***ing wolves.

you gotta learn how to manuever around wolves. unless he's close enough to charge, chances are you have a chance to escape.

use stereo headphones, it'll help you locate the wolf from sound, so you can keep from running into him.

Poor planning skills imo, you just need a few calories meat strip, drop it as a decoy, aim bow and you have a wolf pelt.

Animal movement is not influenced by passing time. That is to say, when passing time, you don't see animals zipping around at warp speed. In addition, they typically don't have a very large zone in which they wander unless they chase something, and if chased away, they will tend to wander back to the original area.

I believe there is also a mechanic in which animals will despawn from an area and respawn elsewere but I don't have a firm understanging of that piece. I suspect blizzards may be one thing that triggers this but I could be mistaken.

Wolves/Deer/Bears can spawn in an area and stay there for over a week, so 13 hours and you haven't scratched the surface.

Like Bole said, give them a piece of meat or fish and if you are armed, get yourself a pelt. If not, give them the food and walk the opposite way they go.

Once you figure out the wolves, you'll wonder why you ever complained. I've got 45 wolf kills on my current 167 day Interloper run. I did lots of bow practice on Voyager until I could bait and shoot wolves 100% of the time, and with total conficence, then I went to interloper and I've been rolling easy.

The beauty of Voyager is wolves don't do a whole lot of damage, so if you miss and get in a fight, you'll be fine.

Crouch down before you open the door and you'll remain crouched when you transition outside. That way the wolf won't see you unless he's right on top of you. Stay crouched and sneak away.

Wolves basically ruin every game I start. And my whole gaming experience. I mean, out of 6 deaths on Stalker 5 are by wolf.
I really think the wolf aspect has been tweaked badly since the official release. The genre is no longer "survival", but merely "wolf survival" now. The shift towards wolf protection activities disctracts a lot from fighting the elements that I love more. Basically, the whole gameplay looks like "do I get a wolf spawn when travellng between shelters".

For me the game has been ruined quite a lot since the pre-wintermute beta. I tried easier levels, but the weather part becomes too easy and supplies too abundant.
Provided that my Wintermute simply crashed after about 5-6 hours of gameplay and the save was deleted, I don't think I can BEAR this state of affairs anymore. Yes, bear. Bears are better than these damned dirty cursed idiotic cretinist cheap two-bit wolves.

I Agree. I'd prefer a level with few or zero wolves and mininal supplies around - it would make a good game experience. Having now played again since last year the update/s appear to increase wolf spawning and now I'm looking about constantly instead of focusing on survival skills.

I think the wolf aspect is too prominent, and is crazy to have them staking out a house for days at a time!

Has anything in the wishlist been added over the years?
Yes.

And no, I won't list them. You can go search for yourself. But I'll give you ahint... the oft requested ability to pick up and use stones... might just be one of those things.

Won't or can't?

Where can I find this info?
You can find it in the Wish List threads, using you main account, the one that own the game, not the shell Ghost account you use here. :)

Wolves are not lethal on stalker when you keep the condition good and use bow, decoys, flares etc. But it is frustrating to encounter wolf every 5 minutes when traveling long distances.

Yes, running sometimes works, as does crouching. What hacks me off is the number of wolves around, and often when you fight one off it returns to attack again even though injured! I accept this is a game but come on - let's have some sense. Maybe the game should be renamed Wolf Attack.
