Broken Railroad Log-infested frozen river below broken bridge. Inaccessible? Hmmmm Warning/Spoiler
Well, you can get down there. And there's stuff down there. Human Corpse, Deer, Firewood. Backpack. On Interloper, of course, you search all that for nothing, and no "rare" "treasure" down there. But interesting.

In fact, I hope you find it extremely interesting, because going down there will be the last significant thing your char does. I realized I could Skyrim down, but back up?

Nope.

Lit a fire, read a book for badge progress, and ran around until my fatigue went red.

You can totally get back out.

Go up the boulders on the opposite side. I found the best spot for getting up was just a hair past the logs on the opposite side of them from the broken bridge. Once you're high enough up, you can circumvent your way around back to the main map. It's been a bit but I remember getting back to the main map somewhere around the Hunting Lodge I think it was.

@OP- AnFangsEndes is correct, there is a way back out, free solo climbing. Took me several tries and deaths to find it (on Pilgrim even... not much great loot there in the "easy mode" either...). Once you find the climbing route, you won;t forget it. But it takes a bit of careful study to find it.

Sorry, I don't have screenshots, did it on the XBone version, and the process of grabbing the shots from them to my PC, moving them to the Steam screenshots folder so I can upload them as screenshots and not artwork... more effort than I have energy for currently. But maybe do a Pilgrim run just to poke around the BR map a bit... there are a bunch of little hidden shortcuts and interesting climbs on the map that haven't been invisible walled off. Yet.

Oh cool I totally dismissed the other side. Looked as bad as the entry side and just figured it was out of bounds anyway.

Cool!

Yeah, finding a good starting foothold is the trickiest part since the higher up you get the more the incline evens out and it gets a lot easier.

There is a bridge just above that river, and a place for rope just further along the rock face( in the direction of the lake). I hope Hinterland will add a way to get up there.

I can't wait for Whiteberry to make a BR map.

Whiteberry annunced she is not updating her maps or making new ones, she posted that here, several times, and on the Hinterland forums, and on the Hinterland and her own Twitter pages.

No new Wihiteberry maps or updates to exisiting ones. I believe the Lady has other priorities for her free time right now. She did not make them for Hinteland, but on her own time as a fan of the game.

But we can still be bitterly disappointed...

Yeah, or someone else can get the software she used and create all new maps.

That someone will not be me, lol!

What do you think this is? A U.S. presidential election?

(ok, way off-topic but I say that w/o any good or bad feelings toward 21st century US elections)

I'm going to do a quick run and try to find this so-called "way out". But since the TLD forums are notorious for the rudest, vilest, set-you-up-to-die-with-bad-advice crowd I've ever experienced, I probably won't make it...

There is a way out. You'll end up seeing a lot of level geometry from a not so pretty, unintended angle, but it exists. Once you're at the steep snowbanks where it transitions from being the opposite side of the ravine to the original side, don't rush and sacrifice too much height. The path I found did get a little tight towards the end.

Alternatively, I think the game has a failsafe where if you physically exit the level and fall out of world you're teleported somewhere within the proper level again, and you can easily choose to go out of bounds once you're high enough up the opposite side of the ravine, but I didn't try that method so I've got no clue how viable that is for Broken Railroad.

Found the way up the other side ... but not yet a way out (yes, couldn't hold the height getting nearer to the steep snowbanks). Failsafe worked for me: Back to Broken Railroad entrance tunnel after walking over the edge of the world ...
