Bear-respawn?
Hey Guys,

first of all: Awesome game. I enjoy the survival mod a lot. But I have a question.
Near the Misanthrope's Homestead at the Coastal Highway is a cave where a bear lives. I shot that son of ♥♥♥♥♥ after he tried to slice me into some nice pieces of meat. I set up my base in the Misanthrope's Homestead an lived there happily for a couple of weeks. And suddently there was another bear living in this cave who tried to rape the sh** out of me during the night. I shoot that bastard as well. And make and educated guess who was there a week after that? Another love searching bear with a desire for human meat.

Well one chance for this repeating event might be the unnoticed importance of the cave for the Lone-Dark-Bear-Community as some kind of very exclusive real estate.....but I presume there is some kind of a respawn for these furry killers. Can I ask how often the respawns? Because to me it seems there is a new bear in town every week.

Best regards,
Shogoth64 and keep up the good work !

Be sure the bear you're shooting actually drops dead! There's a bug where going through a loading screen (i.e big houses) will reset the health of injured animals, making them healthy again.
As for respawn time, it's usually 10-15 days.

FYI, to the best of my knowledge, that's a deliberate choice by the devs, not a bug. It's been here over a year now in any event, so it's likely not going away.

Lost a great Whiteout run and 20+ bullets trying to kill Invincibear.

Could we get a dev to comment here? It would be helpful to know, one way or the other.

Wildlife does respawn. You'd run out of rabbits / deer to hunt for food or could get rid of anything dangerous (wolves / bears) way too easily otherwise.

Oh course they do. The game itself says at the beginning, it is a game and not an accurate sumulation. But it might be good to know, if there is a new bear nearby every 7 days, or if it takes a couple of weeks for that. A fast refreshing bear would make the Misanthrope's Homestead a pretty dangerous place to life, while a slow refresh makes it a good home.

Once you figure bears out, like where they spawn, and where they like to roam, they aren't dangerous at all. They're pretty easy to hunt too, you can lure them to wherever you want with meat, like a fishing hut or a shed, then take a nice comfortable close range shot without fear of mauling.

As for Coastal HIghway, I think the Fishing Camp is the best home base...on interloper at least, no predators spawn there, there is a workbench outside, which you need a fire to use, but there's tons of furniture and pallets. I'd give Jackrabbit Island my second vote.

Not sure about anyone else, but I had way too many blizzards in 50 days in coastal highway, was a blizzard like every other day.
