I've never seen a fishing hole go empty, you can always catch fish as far as I know.
Edit: Or you might be getting the scroll over message for "clear fishing hole" meaning that it's asking you if you want to break the ice with a hammer, knife, hatchet, or prybar in order to fish.
If you notice any other translation issues, you are welcome to report them to our Public Bug Database, here: https://hinterlandgames.atlassian.net/projects/TLDP
This how I could see a better translation in french: "Trou de pêche vidé". "Vidé" is from the verb "vider" and the adjective "vide", this last literally means "empty" in English.
So, ''clear'' is the sense we want for this, not empty.
Then the good word in french to tell the hole is clear is "dégagé". "Dégagé is used to talk about a clear weather with sun without any cloud (clear of clouds).
