How do I harvest wood ?

So far I only managed to harvest reclaimed wood, I can't seem to find how to cut cedar or fir firewood. I tried to intereact with tree logs, tree stumps, but nothing.

Would someone tell me how to harvest wood ?

you have to have a hatchet in your backpack. you will find it or you can create it (forge). just search the whole region. there is always one hatchet in the region. till you have a hatchet, just collect sticks, or destroy some small furniture to get reclaimed wood.

Look for a big tree limb on the ground. That's where you'll get the firewood. Normal trees and stumps are not harvestable.

A tree limb ? I am not sure what that is. I could not find a picture on the wiki

they spawn around where sticks spawn just check by the trees, man. its just a bigger stick, basically. oh yeah some seem to be bugged and you cant interact with them.

I actually had a couple spawn infront of me when i picked up some regular ol sticks..

There are sticks, branches (which can be broken down into sticks), and limbs (which can be chopped up into firewood. Cedar limbs mostly look like giant versions of brances. Basically, you're looking for something laying on the ground that is clearly too big to break up by hand. When you look at it, you should get the interaction dot and a descriptor (cedar limb or fir limb).

Don't be so fixated on limbs though. The disadvantage of them is that you have to get them out in the cold.

Sticks on the other hand take almost no effort to pick up. They don't last long, but they produce a good amount of heat and you can collect a lot of them as walk across the world.

Yes, tree limbs laying on the ground. There's multiple sizes and a two main types. Fir and Cedar.

Fir are usually shorter thick branches, cedar are still thick but not as much and have more sharp looking branches.

Some will look exactly like the harvestable ones but are not, some are just decoration... dumb.

Hacksaw can also harvest Some of these but not all and I'm not sure why.

Hacksaw is better in my opinion because its more easily repaired. Although it is less efficient time wise.

Sharpen your hatchet and repair your hacksaw before they break forever! Watch their condition.
