Here's where I found a good price:
https://isthereanydeal.com/search/?q=long+dark#/page:game/info?plain=longdark
Basically amazon and strangely some section or seperate humblebundle store have the best prices.
The Humble Widget is still glitched... if you buy directly in the Humble Byndle Store, it is full price. But the widget link does not appear to have been updated when the price changed. Not sure if it corrects in the Checkout process or not, but Hinterland really needs to get with Humble on that. But... i Humble is a legit vendor, so you will get a kegit, working key, even if you get it at an accidental discount, lol!
(And it's still worth full price... and we haven't gotten the Story Mode yet. That will be a huge batch of icing on the cake on August 1st, since it doesn't change the price of the game at all.)
Like every game, it has bits that are a bit frustrating. But the amount of time and effort that went into the game is apparent and will charm you.
If youre coming to the game cold (pun intended) then you should wait a couple more days (Aug 1st is the biiiig release date) and dive in with the first couple of story episodes.
You should get more than your money's worth if you indulge in the sandbox and all the challenges as well.
You'll have a ball :)
I bought my copy from the widget store. I tried to use amazon for the first time but they wanted me to fax them ID or something so I said screw it.
the widget store works fine. Charged 19.99 USD and gave me a steam key :).
Will try this game, survival sandbox is pretty much im looking for :)
(sorry OP... we posted at the same time, I was replying to happy, above you. And yeah, if you want a fantastic Sandbox, this is it. But give Wintermute story mode a try too. And the more linear Challenge Modes in the game already, as well.)
If you think this game is "bare bones" I would love to see what you consider to be a "full" gameplay experience in an Early Access title.
To the OP: it's a great game for certain types of gamers. If you like a slow-paced, thoughtful survival experience, with unmatched immersion in a winter environment -- yes, it's worth full price. If you don't -- if you're more of a COD/Rust/ARK-type player -- then no, it's not going to be worth the money to you.
But TLD is sold by Amazon directly, not by third party sellers.

"Sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC"
It is crazy that Hinterland has not caught on that Amazon's price is $19.99, but as long as that continues, this is absolutely the best place to buy the game if you're looking to save some money.
The Amazon LLC and Humble bundle keys I would trust to be legit. Maybe the Amazon keys were gotten at a much lower flat rate price, and Hinterlnad does not get a cut from the sales? So Amazon is still making their profit, so they haven't changed the price? Odd though that Humble Bundle has 2 different prices, depnding on whether you buy from the Humble Store direct or use the Humble Widget link found on price comparison sites and other locations on the Internet. That just makes me scratch my head, since Humble donates a % to charity. You would think they would have the prices consistent regardless of the path to checkout used. Heck, even if they didn't donate to charity, you would think they would want to maximize profits for themselves.
