Fastest way to dry clothes?

Do they dry faster if you take them off and lay them next to the fire rather than just by sleeping in them next to the fire? I haven't really noticed a difference because I usually sleep for long periods at a time.

I've never noticed a difference either.

I stuffed a pair of frozen gloves into the freezer, and when I came back a while later, they had thawed and dried. Found that kind of ironic.

IRL they'd dry faster leaving them on so that's what i do but i've never noticed a difference either way. just remember to take them off if they're at all frozen!

I was wondering about this. Someone mentioned getting frostbite from sleeping in frozen clothing. Does it matter where you sleep - whether the location's temperature is subzero or above zero?

Yes, frostbite risk occurs when you're wearing frozen clothing or no clothing and the location's temperature is below zero - e.g. that body part would be exposed to freezing temperatures over time.
So technically it wouldn't help to remove the frozen clothing if the air temp was below zero, but if you're by a fire drying your clothing that's unlikely.

I've heard of people getting frost bite from sleeping in wet clothes...so I always take them off ASAP. Though I don't think they dry any faster. Actually if I am in shelter for any length of time I will take most of clothes off even if dry. Saves on durability and as long as the "feels like" temp is above freezing the game doesn't penalize you...really any temp below 10°C or so should be dangerous if you are exposed to it for long amounts of time.

if you clothes are FROZEN as opposed to WET. take them off immidiatly.

I just sleep next to a fire for a night, clothes will dry up, even when I'm wearing them. Haven't explored that frostbite aspect yet thou, because I died from that haha. :D
