Emergency Stims.
So, I'd like to know everyone's opinion on them. Obviously, they are a last resort, due to the collapsing via exhaustion after use, but what do you guys do with them? Do you bother taking them with you?
I have never personally used a stim, so could I get some ideas of scenarios where I might have to use one?
Thanks.

The climb back up out of the Lower Ravine. Overburdened (because i got greedy) and needed one to get to the ledge to sleep and recover to make the last part of the climb.

The climb to the Summit on TWM. If you are not well rested before going up, you may need one there as well. Coffee helps too.

Near dead after a Bear mauling, needed one to get to a safe shelter to recover w/o dying enroute.

They have uses. Just not meant to be used unless it is an emergency. Which should be somewhat obvious from their name, lol!

Lol! I drink 3-5 pots of coffee every day IRL. Yeah, truly a caffine addict. And yeah, I have withdrawal if I don't have any available.

Glad my survivors do notshare my addicition to the stuff. xD

You don't make them. They are loot, often found in First Aid kits, sometimes safes or on shelves or tables, in containers, etc.

Yeah, I most commonly find them in First Aid Kits or shelves. Also they seem pretty common in safes, along with flares and rifle bullets.

You won;t find them, or any other good loot that amy be waiting elsewhere, unless you go exploring, and find new loactions, shelters and loot drop spots. Gotta go out and look man.

Loot is what helps you survive. Loot like even better clothing, more MATCHES, mag lenses, Frestrikers, more Sewing Kits to keep clothing repaired, more rifle ammo, whetstones to keep axes and knives harp, cleaning kits to keep rifles in good working order so they don;t jam, bows, arrows, food and water, Research Bools to imcrease Skill levels to get buffs from higher Skill Levels, more food, more tools, more cloth, more saplings, more firewood, scrap leather for footwear repair... more of almost everything.

You can sit in one spot for the entire run. But you will run of mats and resources. And you will miss out on good loot, and special locations like Mines with Coal, buildings with new Bedrolls, hacksawas, heavy hammers, and FORGES, to make improvised tools and components like new arrowheads. And lots of animal carcasses tio harvest for food, guts and hides to craft clothing.

You gotta move someday, or wait for everyting, including wildlife, to run out where you are. And start a new run from scratch. Explore and loot, you may lsurvive longer, face more challenges, and find more joys, and maybe die. And start over. It all ends, the game is about living, dying, starting over and learning from each run. To do it better the next time.

I know that this is a survival game but IFYIGD has it right. This is for me first and foremost an exploring game. You explore to survive. So you get lost and you die. Start a new game and explore some more, die some more and eventually you will know your way around the maps. Mystery Lake is just one of the the six maps out there, plus the three connector maps. Get out and enjoy the game. Yes you will die....Its part of the game.

I watched a speedrun of Hopeless Rescue, he used EVERY STIM he had. so it's pretty useful if you're trying to get places fast, probably useful in The Hunted.

Im playing on easy, currently on day 70+. Never survived this long before- so I'm sticking it out.

I usually keep one stim on me at all times and keep others at mmy main shelter. These really saved my butt one time when i ran out of supplies (nothing to make tackle/ hunt with, no food etc) and it was mega cold outside.

It came to a point that i knew i would die is i didn't do something and so i took all my stims (2 or three i think) and made a non-stop sprint to the trappers homestead during a snowstorm.

Just about made it while freezing cold and there was some good snacks, a snare and more goodies waiting there for me.

Along with that, there have been many other times where i've popped a stim and managed to survive because of it.

The Hunted, Part 1: Got mauled 200 meters from the goal, so I stimed to reach the goal with 11% health.

Hopeless Rescue: Used Stim to make the ascent to the summit on the 4th day (had no water, no firewood, nothing, and was in deep trouble - stiming saved me, allowed me to reach the motherlode treasure that day), and proceed to the lighthouse on days 5 and 6.

Wolf double-tap: Got attacked by 2 wolves in quick succession, ended with 5% health in the middle of the Coastal Highway ice. Bandaged myself, but was exhausted. The stim took care of that and allowed me to reach Misantrope's house safely.

It IS an emergency stim. Nothing more, BUT nothing less as well.
