Wolf Nighttime Behavior
I have a bunch of supplies at my base camp in PV at the Abandoned Prepper's Cache and am looking to take said supplies to TWM. I figure I can take a few "climbing days" and take all my supplies that will be ok out in cold and dump them at the top of the ledge. I know there is a wolf that strolls around near here and the Mystic River cave area. My question is, just how good is their tracking at night? I don't do much trekking around at night and have never encounted a wolf then. I figure I'll keep running supplies until I get tired, but I certainly don't want to get a bite out of my hide if I'm doing this into the evening. Any insight will be appreciated.

I've never noticed any different AI on wolves between day and night. It will take you longer to notice them, so they make get a better jump on you. I walk with my head tilted one way while watching the important part of the screen to see around the breath fog sometimes.

It's not a bad idea to stash some stuff at the top of the rope, but you can't go up or down with over 30 kilos. You only need a relatively decent weather day for a couple hours to get to the hunting cabin if you are under 40 kilos total weight. Don't forget your hacksaw ;)

Thanks for the tips guys...I'll just keep my head on a swivel if I'm out there at night. @Bele: I may or may not need everything, but I've scavenged the rest of the maps and am looking to live out my days and go for the 200 days (hopefully more!) at the Mountaineer's Hut. I might leave some of it there...it's not too far if I feel I really need something.

The hut is nice, but not the warmest spot when the temps start dropping later in the game. It's a good location though. There is a section right below the peak near to caves , plenty of bunnies and no predators, lots of easy wood gathering.

Thanks for the advice! I've been up there once before the update, but never a good length of time. Since you mentioned it Ikandrb, about when do the temps start falling a lot and by how much? Better get to work on the bearskin beadroll I suppose. I'm on Voyager, btw.

I haven't reached that on Voyager yet since the update. Before the update on stalker it wasn't bad at 250+. Once the temps drop, I doubt even a bearskin bedroll will allow you to sleep out of a shelter. It might make fishing huts a lot more comfortable.

I don't know about the other modes, but a little while ago I was tracking the changing climate on Interloper. The temperature seemed to drop a couple degrees every ten days until day 50 when it stabilized.

I think one of the things to watch out for with night wolves is that those spawns reroll right around dark. The area that was clear an hour ago is suddenly home to a prowling wolf.

At night wolf attack without bark. :steammocking:

Mountainers Hut bed is OK if you have good cloths. Maybe in blizzard nights need lite the fireplace in early morning hours.
