And no, you can't jump.
And yeah, maybe I should've been more specific when saying you can't jump - in TLD.
LOL mmille14
Not sure if anyone really knows. It has been discussed/requested. Trying searching on it.
Thanks for the video!
From a development point of view, I think they didn't include jumping to make their life easier when level designing. Jumping ruins collisions and may get the player in unwanted places, glitching the AI, etc
LOL!
Jumping in games with vertically diverse terrain is a headache to prevent getting stuck.
Since we've done without jumping for this long, it's addition would seem pretty useless apart from those odd times when you get stuck (which are exceedingly rare)
I think it also stops people from thinking they could jump with any effectiveness while carrying 40kg of gear.
I guess, but I can count numerous times in all the time playing that jumping actually would have/could have helped get me out of a 'stuck state'
I dunno, seems like a lot of work to painstakingly go through the entire game world on each map and address all areas that could trap the player one by one, when you could just add one extra small movement command that could fix 90% of this issue in one fal swoop.
Or even if they added a "un-stuck" keyboard hot key, like some of these types of games have. Where you press like F4 and it teleports you to the coordinates you were at 5 seconds ago.
I know The Surge had this issue and they just added one such "un-stuck" hot key. Although in that game it just kills you, but it basically serves the same purpose.
Maybe they could even make it give you a auto sprained wrist or ankle, when ever you use it, to simulate the kind of damaged you might be likely to do to yourself if you did get stuck in real life.
Basically just asking for some sort of compromise here, because I have no probs with a run being ended by bears, wolves, the elements, starvation, or whatever else. But when sometimes hours of progress is wiped because of a simple geometry glitch, that's not fun :(
