You can loot a MAILBOX? :)

I got 250+ hours, but this is new for me.. lol. Figured it out playing Interloper and did not find anytihing in 5 mailboxes. Did somebody find anything inside? Maybe newspaper, flare or matches? Is it worth to check? Or its 100% empty all the times..

You have to figure at some point car visors, gas flaps, hoods, and mailboxes will have something there of use. It makes much more sense to find newspapers in mail boxes than in locked lockers and safes. I keep trying to figure out who locks an empty locker or safe... you leave it unlocked so you don't have to unlock it to use it next time.

I tried many mailboxes early on, it is good to know someone has found something and that they are not just useless. Finding a skill book/magazine should occur once in a while.

Newspaper rolls mostly. Don't remember ever finding books/skll books in them.

I ALWAYS check them. I seem to find most often: News print roll, newsprint, candy/granola bars, and rifle bullets! (check my screenshots for proof!)

Not quite sure. I found mine on voyuager. (Then again, I only had one successful stalker run! xD)
