I've seen blizzards that last an hour or two others that last two days

Allot depends on what experience mode you're playing on

I feel the average is about 6 hours. @dx421 is right though some last a couple of hours or a at least a day. It's rare but I hate when there's a blizzard, the indicator tells you it's died downed by showing x hours and you step outside to basically a blizzard but ok. Step back inside and it rages again for another 6 hours....so tedious.

I've been wondering if there isn't a little rng involved with those too. When you've got the dark clouds, falling snow, high winds, and it looks like it could turn into a whiteout any minute - maybe that actually counts as part of the storm.

I've noticed that following five or six hours of those conditions, when the blizzard finally drops, it's only a couple hours long.

I really hate the back to back ones. There is no pattern. I have seen short 1 to 2 hours ones followed an hour or so later with a 6 plus hour one. PV is bad about having back to back long ones (6 plus hours)

As a rule of thumb, a blizzard lasts more than you can withstand it, and even more if you are low on supplies

The average for me is 2-3 hours. a real pain when I had something to do outside. (cook food, chop wood, etcm)

My base tends to be the PV Farmstead more often than not, so I am used to regular blizzards. They generally last six-ish hours as others have suggested but I've seen one that was nearly two days long.

I don't enjoy the frequent starvation strategy so my general "preparations" include 2000+ calories at the beginning of the day and around 1000 spare calories (usually an energy bars or crackers + some meat) as emergency rations in case I need to hole up somewhere for a day.

1 day and a half in PV, then a few hours of peace and the blasted thing started yet again, man I hate that place.

Really? freaking unlucky, (irrelevant ahead) PV seems to love me. I never get caught in blizzards and I always get lucky with wildlife. and I seem to ALWAYS find a rifle either: the car at the "Long Curve" The radio tower. or the farmhouse! :)

It's surprisingly a great place for game and I love the radio tower. But it's the stormiest <<< not a word?, place in the game.

It's also worth noting that weather gets progressivley the longer you have survived.
