Relight flare?
Yes or no. Never really occurred to me. Just curious if you to choose to extinguish it, is it relightable?

LOL I just realized even IRL I've never tried or heck even extinguished a flare, just let em burn out.

I don't think you can extinguish a railroad flare can you. I know you can't IRL. I think they will burn under water. Never tried it. Now you got me wondering, but I only have the one in inventory and I'm not using that one for a trial.

Flares contain their own oxidizers.. you can't stop them once started. As athikers said, you can toss them into water and they'll keep going.

They probably can't be relit, at least easily, because there is an ignition compound on the end which you strike against the rough surface on the cap, like a match. Never actually used a road flare so I can't swear to it.

I'm pretty sure you can't put the cap back on and re-light them. but then again, what do I know about anything? :steamfacepalm:

They cannot be snuffed out. Even if you could put the cap back on, it will burn right through it. I have used them before and the flame comes out the end like a blow torch. The tip of the flame is about 8 to 10 inches from the end of the flare. They will burn asphalt if you drop them on the road. And you cannot hold them in your hand until they burn out.

Ah okay I was foolish and didn't even bother to look at the info the game has available. You can't extinguish (I thought it was a LMB option) or even Unequip a flare in TLD, just drop it.

I can't speak for 'railroad' flares but marine flares burn so hot they'll melt fiberglass. They also burn underwater and some of them, without an oxygen atmosphere.

Even if you did suceed in entinguishing one, you could never relight it for practical use.

Road flares can only really be extinguished by chopping off the burning portion. This is NOT advisable for what I hope are obvious safety reasons. Pay the five bucks or whatever and buy a new one, or risk the new nickname of Burnscars McGee, your choice.
