Dumb Question RE: Nomad Challenge
I finally decided to try the challenges. Question-do you have to follow the order they are listed in the journal, or just cover all of them. And yes, I tried searching for the answer but it seems the search option isn't working for me today. Says there are no discussions that include nomad challenge??

No need to do them in order, just spend 3 days in each of the 15 locations. Keep in mind the timer only runs when you are inside the named location, not outide harvesting, or hunting or fishing. Just check your Journal real quick to see how much time you still need at any location. Not positive, but I think they disabled Cabin Fever for Nomad, but I am not positive on that. But it seems like they would have to, since th Challenge almost requires you to be indoors more than outdors, though I may not have gotten CF because of the Voy grace period. (Chalenges are in Voy, according to all sources I could find info about experience Mode for Chaleneges on.)

Thanks. I wondered since I spawned in PV at the farmstead the first on the list was in ML and there are some in PV as well. Making a pot of coffee and going to do this to stay away from Loper where I keep killing myself stupid. Also trying to stay away from real life new feeds (sheesh). That long unsupported Appalachian Trail hike is looking better and better. No internet and turn my phone on once a week just to let the few people who care know that I am still breathing.

Ahhh, if you do decide to go off hiking, check in if you can. I will worry if you disappear for weeks with no activity here. But I do get what you are saying.

And yeah, i chuckle at starting Nomad in the Farmstead, but it not being one of the locations. Good central starting point though, makes doing some looting and getting kitted up good at the start. Nomad should e a nice, relaxing break from Loper attempts for you. You know the maps, know where the wolfies hang out, so it may be easy and relaxing, or boring. But comleting it as quickly as possible and overing 5 maps to do it, is always a nice confidence booster for me. Before i go back to walking backwards off of a cliff in Sandbox. (Which I did again on my last run... though I had grabbed the mountainerring rope... nope. Didn't grab it before descending. Those ropeless rappels are killer...) :D

That not one of my problems. I walk backwards into fires. :-) or is it :-(

You don't need to do them in any order, but as IFIYGO says, you do need to spend a total of 3 days in each. I am on a Nomad run myself, and will let you know if I get Cabin Fever. If so, I will just build a Snow Shelter and spend more time outdoors. You may not want to wait for my results, since it may take me more time than most, as I am taking it very slowly.

Survival in real life - make sure someone knows you where you are and when you expect to arrive at each destination! Be careful on your unsupported Appalachian Trail hike, and have fun.

Thanks for the kind words about the hike. I can do it physically. Problem is mental. I know a lot of long distance hikers and making the decision to actually do it will be the hardest.

Well it was such a nice day, it seemed like a good idea to loot Forlorn Muskeg. So far so good, Birch and Maple and climbing socks, also a hacksaw at Poacher’s. Killed 2 wolfs. On my way back another wolf attacked and I drove him off. Then, a Mr. Bear didn't like the fact that I had a bead roll made from his brothers! He attacked; ok I am fixed; he attacked again; ok I can work with this; he attacked again, over and over until I had more life. I will have to defer the answer about Cabin Fever. ;-)

Survival isn’t everything in TLD. Attitude is! Back to try again. ;-)

You can't get that cabin fever in 3 days, I've tested it. So while you go into the specific location, loot it up properly and then just pass time/sleep through that time and maintain your health. Then you go to next place. Repeat.

Also, loot other places nearby, because sometimes some places are not that much filled with stuff, so you need to have enough food and water to survive those days.

Note, there is challenges-discussion I made, where we could discuss about challenges, use search to find it. :)

Lots of ppl are on that trail so if you run into trouble you will have ppl passing by. Also, at many points you come close to civilization. I ran a Boy Scout camp on the trail in NJ and ppl would hike down to say hi. I've hike parts in ME and NJ.

Cabin fever is not an issue in this challenge.

great. i just started doing this challenge and went up to the Summit on TWM just to make sure I wasn't staying indoors too long. oh well. guess I'll head down with a bunch of useless gear now.

But it was a nice hike, right.
