Aggressive black bears reality check.
Did see a program where 10 participants try to live as long as possible in the wild with only 10 items.

In season 2 a lady films a bear encounter at night. It sounds like a black bear is on the other side of the tarp. You can hear it sniffing.

So how mush is just edited and sound layover?

Have anyone actual knowledge of what a real time genuine black bear would do in a first time human encounter?

Good game and as a city boy most impressed :-)

Black bears are generally smaller and more shy. Brown bears/ Grizzly Bears have a distinctive back hump, and are more likely to charge like they mean it. (Blackbears often do a fake charge and stop midway) We have both here in Canada (And Brown Bears are a mixed bag of genetics depending on location in the world) Anyway Grizzly tend to be near the West Coast (Where Hinterland Studios is located) and mountain ranges. While Black bears are happy to live anywhere in the country which has more moderate climate and food sources. Very common on East coast for example to find Blackbears, but you will not find any Grizzly Bears.

Most people fear Blackbears and they are normally too afraid to cause much trouble to people. The problem occurs when they get comfortable with people. Then it can become dangerous. (Its still a bear after all) There are plenty of videos on Youtube showing household cats chasing a Blackbear away from a home. This would not happen with Brown bears or Grizzy Bears.

I strongly suspect the bears we have in game are Island dwelling brown bears. (Essentially fat grizzly bears because salmon <3) Not blackbears. Sure they look dark but the aggression levels do not match that of a true black bear. Also that hump. I could be wrong though. Look at wolf behavior in the game. It doesn't really mesh with real life either so its hard to say.

The game explanation is the storm has dramatically changed predator behaviour. As stated above, black bears aren't really that threatening, unless they're used to you (like when they tend to get fed by picnic-ers and have a tendency to raid rubbish dumps for food and so on). Yes, a bear will get that close (my aunt told a story of a bear being outside her tent and she could hear it snuffling - she was inside, clutching a revolver to her chest and wondering if it wouldn't be better to use it on herself as it wouldn't have done a thing to the bear!)

While the game says the bears ingame are black, the're bigger ythan black bears tend to be - probably to make it more threatening when they come at you. And the Hunted bear is definitely a brown bear.

Nah, the Hunted bear is still a black bear, but a specific variant, ony found in and around British Columbia, known as a Kermode bear. The coat coloration is spot on for a Kermode (glacier) bear, with that much plaer grey=blue-brown color. Black bears can get pretty big, the males in particuar, and older bears who have lived well... can rival brown bears in size. Though, they are not commonly found so large. Average male balck bears weigh in at 150-300 lbs., but there have been males found as large as 500-600 lbs. Our pursuer in The Hunted 1 and The Hunted 2 is one of those exceptionally large black bears. Or, lol! You could be right, and the evil devs threw a brown bear in to throw us off track. ;)
