The feathers will always be by the corpses
You only find 0-2 because the crows haven't been there long. If you spend a few months hanging around a region and never collect the feathers you'll walk past a spot and see over a dozen from one spawn
If you travel more you'll find more spawns each region has at least a half dozen. Explore every day and you could easily get a few dozen by the time you're done
The bow is more of a "late game" feature for me (unless it's interloper then it's a priority)
I'm currently trying to move from Quonset gas station to the lighthouse in desolation point. I've been to the Riken to make 44 arrowheads(lol) but i couldn't get the feathers for the arrows. I'm probably just rushing the game too much.
Im only on day 20 but I have 3 pieces of animal hide clothing, 3 bows, 2 rifles, and much more. Then again, I'm only on voyager
Once i get at least 3 arrows, Im going to start travelling much more
The way I got a ton of feathers on my 200 day badge was that I was camping out at the camp office. There was a corpse by the large rock at the lake's edge and I just let them build up. At one point I decided to harvest them and end up with over 40 feathers in one area.
Wouldnt matter if we could: we'd only get 1-3 feathers and an ounce of meat based on the math they use for harvesting
Edit: I used the rifle to stay alive while I gathered saplings, crafted arrow shafts, and gathered feathers. I make a single mad blacksmithing mission to one of the forges, and craft 125 arrowheads. Then I simply craft arrow after arrow, using that to boost my skill. 125 is the exact amount needed to reach level 5, and this is a sure-fire way to max your skill.
That's amazing, I had no idea you could do that. But each arrowhead took you 1 hour to forge so 125 took you 125 hours
A common newbie mistake is that they harvest PRE-PLACED deer carcasses. Don't do that! If a carcass is in the open, it WILL stay there indefinitely unless you touch it, and it will attract crows (unlike carcasses of deer that get killed during the course of the game). So, if you sacrifice the skin, guts, and 1-2 kilograms of meat, you get infinite feather spawn.
Once you touch the pre-placed, "ravaged carcass" (such as at Katie's Secluded Corner in Desolation Point), you won't get any more feathers from it once it despawns.
Human corpses last indefinitely, so at least you have that.
In the other game no corpses near Riken, are a deer in wolf area in ice in from Church - a bit risk for collect feathers and a corpse in Katie's, so I made a expedition to CH to gather feathers, there is easy pick dozens. :))
Advantage that in DP is easy hunt deer's in front Riken.
