Dead Sleeping Outdoors
I've tried to sleep outdoors twice, and both times the game does not give a reason for my death. Was it hypothermia? Was I attacked? I don't mind dying, I just want to know why?:catblood:

If you post here the first journal page screenshot the community likely say what was your death reason.

Probably froze to death. The most likely explanation.

It's never advisable to sleep in large blocks, certainly not outside or where the temperature is prone to drop below 0. Unless you are absolutely sure you have enough water and calories to make it through the night and warmth isn't an issue I don't recommend sleeping 8 hours at a time.

Likely froze to death. It's never warm enough to sleep outside on the ground and survive 8 hours, even with good clothes and bearskin bedroll. Maybe in the very back of a cave but even then you'd want a fire. If you're caught outside with no cave or car to shelter you you need a fire. Minimize sleeping unless you're dying of exhaustion. Make 1 1/2 hour fires and sleep in one hour amounts. The wind will often blow out your fire, never assume it'll stay lit. Cook or heat up beans, peaches, coffee, herbal/reishi/rose hip tea and guzzle it if your fire isn't very big, it'll warm you up much faster.

Probaby varies by mode but there is a set condition loss rate for freezing per hour. Doesn't matter if it's -1C Feels Like or -87C Feels like, but I think on Voy it's 20% condition loss per hour. So if I go to sleep Warm Slaked and Full at 100%, it'spractically impossible for me to die in 5 hours. Even if the temp plummets as soon as I hit "Sleep", it will take a little while for my Temp bar to hit freezing, then 4 1/2 hours of Freezing would wake me up at about 10% condition.

LOL

But to be safe, I only sleep 6 hours in unexplorable caves when I have good clothes, good bedroll and a decent Feels Like temp. And yes a couple times I woke up Freezing in 50% condition but I was better able to manage condition recovery than matches/long burning fires.

In back of caves is safety sleep with good cloths and normal bedroll and no fires, there a warm up bonus there (at least in Voyager/Stalker), can cure skins/guts there too.

The "Long Dark" sleeping is probable go sleep very tired in cold place, and/or a combination of lack of water/food and cold.

If has doubt sleep in short consecutive turns. :)
