Yes. if it's at 0%, it should go back up to 50% or so. but be careful for parisites and / or food posioning. :)

You can cook it and it will regain 50% condition. Which will put you at risk of food poisoning. And wolf/bear meat has risk of internal parasites on higher difficultes (Stalker & Onterloper) unless you have Lvl 5 Cooking Skill. Which prevents both affictions when eating cooked food, and cooked food only.

You can cook it and take your chances now, or just leave it sit in the snow to be cooked when you do reach Lvl 5 Cooking Skill. Ruined meat does not despawn, weirdly enough. It will just sit there and look at you until you cook it and eat it, o find some place to dump it off.

Or use it as bait! :)

1. ruined meat cooked or not will despawn if placed inside containers just like other ruined items(flares, wethstones, rifle cleaning kit etc)
2. can you basically live off rotten meat once you get to lvl 5 cooking?

See, now. I thought ruined meat and fish at ^% would despawn like other Ruined items, if placed in a conatiner. And I was told, and told off, adamantly by others in the thread that I said that in, that it does not. I stopped stockpiling hge amounts of meat and fish some time ago, so never really have huge piles to test it, and haven;t testing it since I got told I was incorrect. Only time I have a large pile of meat that may go to 0% now is if I kill a bear, or if I find ruined meat or fish in the world. And since it can be cooked back up to 50%, and left outdoors in the snow without despawning, indefinitely, just leave it until I hit Lvl 5 Cooking.

And yes, once you hit Lvl 5 Cooking, as long as the food is cooked, you can live off of it until it drops to 1% again. And not risk food poisioning. I don't think you can eat anything that reaches 0% though. Haven;t tried it, so I can;t say with 100% certainty whether the game allows it or not. I will use 0% meat and fish if I have it as trail markers. Never tried to use it as a decoy, so I am again, not sure if the game allows it or not.

I have the feeling that it doesn't work as decoy, not sure if as bait. I've tried to use it as decoy a couple of times and the wolves ignored it.

You cannot eat ruined food. If you click to eat - you just can't.

Do not throw the raw ruined food. You can cook it after you reach level 5 cooking and you will be able to eat it without any risk.

Yes, if you put 0% meat/fish in container this disappear instantly - I dump ~40Kg when visit my early camp bases today, after more than 100 days absent.

0% raw fish can be cooked to restore 50% and then eat.

But cook fish/meat that hit 0% better throw away, the thing get a big X above. :)

I cook a 0% rabbit meat and the X still, I prefer don't take the risk.

Not sure about 100% ruined meat, but you can use rancid meat as bait. which is un-edible due to food posioning. :)
