Why "Hackers" on Unturned shouldn't be Perma-Banned
Unturned is a heavily modifable game which has game modes that range from Arena, Survival, Roleplay, & Creative. Players are used to adding custom content to their games and with the open circulation of "hacking" programs players are going to download and try these free programs despite the risks invovled on a F2P game.

I was banned for installing a hack I found on Youtube and logging onto a Battleye secured server. The reason I did this is because like many other players have been griefed or killed by other hackers. Out of curiosity you lookup "Unturned Hacks" and two clicks later you're downloading a ESP from Youtube and installing it into your Unturned_Data folder. You login onto a server and you start playing around with the functions and having revelations on how those hackers kept finding and killing you. 10 minutes later you're permanently banned by Battleye and slapped with a nasty "1 VAC BAN ON RECORD" note on your profile.

Obviously people are going to say "well you shouldn't of hacked" but dozens of players are flocking to Youtube and installing a free ESP/Aimbot and logging on to servers without realizing Battleye has already flagged their account. The real hackers are using bypasses and selling preminum hacks that are affecting core game mechanics like Health, Flying Cars, Spawning Weapons etc which are truly malicious and game-breaking in a server. Most of these free hacks available on Youtube are clientside DLL's that can only affect client side functions on a online server, and are always immediately detected Battleye secured servers.

I've been using this Steam account for over 12 years and have over 60 games. This was the first "ban" i've ever recieved and think it's unfair a F2P game that I've supported since 2014 has basically given me VAC-Herpes. As a server owner and a community member this has hurt my creditabillity both in-game and out.

P.S

I'm not saying that people who download Aimbot/ESP's shouldn't be punished but permament bans are unjust in my opinion on this F2P game. Bans can range from 1 week to 1 month and can help correct player behaviour and teach them that hacking is wrong, versus completely removing them from a game that they most likely spent money supporting. (I'm a gold member). Other solutions include completely freezing characters in-place if they login into servers with any third party programs on.

Permament bans should only be given to repeat offenders and people who use hacks that are server breaking, that include flying and walking through walls, spawning items and etc. (Module hacks).

Don't use hacks. Easy.
Hell no!
No!

Dozens of people unsuited to the joy of a fair environment. Don't follow the sheeple, simple. You went with the flock and got eaten by a wolf. Should've just chilled in the pasture.

Just move on and deal with it.

Its just annoying that hackers are using throwaways to continuely cheat while people on their main accounts who worked genuinely hard on playing are also being treated as if they're the source of the hackers.

Should've done what they did. If you truly cared about your reputation, you wouldn't want hacks of any kind associated with your account.

This is 100% your fault, regardless of the reasoning.

You guys are making it seem like a ESP on Unturned is a huge ordeal, if it was so malicious and game breaking then it wouldn't be widely available online for everyone to download for free. I think the punishment to the "crime" is too heavy handed.

Just because everyone else is speeding, doesn't make it any more legal than before. Stop using others as an excuse for your actions.

People Speed and other people Drunk and Drive. Two completely different things. I don't think having a permanemt ban record on my 12 year old account on some F2P game available for free is justifiable at all.

"I was doing like 4 over!"

Doesn't matter as both are still illegal. Hacking period is a serious offense, regardless of intent or quantity of reports

Hacking is a serious offence, downloading a free and widely available and known program that could easily pass as a mod and using it on a singleplayer or your own server is not "hacking". If I was DDOSSing the server, stealing source code or doing game breaking hacks then permament ban would be jusitifable, but as a player who simply downloaded something online and placed it into a folder to see what it was like is not deserving of a permament ban.

If anything I would want to just delete the game entirely from my library and have the ban removed. It is getting me black-listed on other servers in completely different games where I paid money for.

You're trying to make it sound like as if it's not much of a big deal in which they should get second chances. You could tell Valve about that with their VAC system in alot of games, or BattlEye itself

Quit standing up for them, they should be aware of the consequences but instead ignored it. Besides, the ban duration aren't managed by the dev but BattlEye, whom with no doubt will always make it permanent.

Hackers do get second chances they just make a new steam account and continue playing hacking or not. This is my main 12 year old steam account with over 60 games and now my integrity of a player is being questioned because of a stupid in-game ban from a F2P game.
I love Unturned but the consequences I have to deal with because I installed and tested a ESP for no more then 10 minutes resulting in a permanment ban and record on my profile is not cool.
