What does Tracer Ammuniton do?

ok as u can see my question is what is tracer ammo and what does it do? well i have been finding them but i thought they would send off a flare but my on my server sadly i cant find any guns

When you fire, a trail of light follows the bullet and then disappears when the bullet hits something. Atleast that's what I think.

WRONG, they do nothing

they shoot a little red bullet.

What they do is pretty useless, it makes red stuff pop out like blood wherever you hit them so that you know where you shot, but it's better with normal magazines, atleast that's what i think.

Tracers in unturned are a red bullet that is visable till it comes in contact with something then seemingly to explode in small red pieces giving off light, not recommend to be use since they give away position alot more than the regular bullets.
