Cast the rod, wait for a fish to bite. When the fish bites, it will pull the bobber under the water and bubbles and splashing will occur. wait until the bobber goes under the water, then click to real in. You should upgrde your fishing a little bit before doing this though

In some towns next to boats and in campgrounds docks youll find it. You have to wait a good minute or two before you catch something

You can make a handmade fishing pole with lvl 2 on craft, I am taking like 40 seconds with lvl2/3 on fishing to get a fish, it regenerates food and water so it worth the time when you are far from any city.
Remeber you need a campfire and lvl 1 cooking to make the fish...

The lake needs to have a specif deepth, in a really smal pool it will not work.

Threw fishing line, waited forever, bobber went under, caught trout, though, "uuggghh just a trout." cooked it, ate it, watched my food and water bar go up like crazy, FISHING IS OP!

Build or pick up a fishing rod. Equip it and stand close to water. When you left click it will cast. Then wait until you see some commotion on your line and left click again.

You can usually find fishing rods around camp sites. Fish are great because they improve your hunger AND hydration levels!

I think the bit we're missing is the "how to equip the rod" part. Jump into your gear, and with the rod in your "hands" right click on it to bring up a menu which includes equip. Then the instructions above apply...
