Bad things about renting can include
- No direct control to the files of the game
- The hardware that is hosting the servers is not your property and could be taken from you at any time
- The renting companies power could go out, resulting in your server files being corrupted (And of course your server going offline)
- You will always have to keep renting the server in order to keep the items and structures you place
- If you stop paying the rent all of the data is gone forever, incase you ever wanna start hosting again
- Usually there are lots of bugs when other people that don't know what they're doing host. LHYME renting for example went terrible for a few indivisuals
It is extremely advised that you make your own server. Although, I did run my server with 2GB's of DDR3 RAM and a CPU with 1 core / 1 thread, and I could get it running with 10 people fine-ish
