number two that game is not made for some thing like that.
number three is going to be the worst game with to much buttons.
GTA & Minecraft are being developed by Rockstar and Mojang respectively. Two companies that have a large workforce to have some of them port their games over to mobile while still having the rest while still paying attention to the original release platform.
Unturned, on the other hand is being developed by one single person, so Nelson pretty much has an excuse not to port it over to mobile platforms at the moment, or ever. Controls are also another problem.
It's a definitely good idea, but it's not really a possible one. At least for now.
I think you should refrain from providing input in this conversation as you very clearly have no idea what you are talking about.
Keyboard and mouse/gamepad. Noone said this was going to be run on phones, either. There are tablets and TV sticks. Also, nowhere near as many buttons as you think, even if the touchscreen is to be used. You'd need an analog stick, attack button, use button, menu button. That's about it.
Most viable comment I've seen here so far. Though, I believe Unity (This runs Unity, yes?) has already been ported to Android, it may just be the issue of porting the rest of the game.
and lets not forget, your gonna have to fit all these buttons into 1 tiny screen, which will just be annoying.
also what will be the point of porting it to mobile devices such as phones, if your gonna be required to buy a keyboard and a mouse/gamepad.
also lets not forget, the game doesnt even have a Linux version yet, even tho Unity supports Linux, so there must be a compatibility issue going on, so that probobly the same to mobile phones aswell.
The last bit is true, about not having a Linux port yet. I suppose the dev should work on that first.
As for the buttons, I'm sure it can be done. All the buttons you need to account for are hardware ones for basic gameplay. A lot of them can be merged.
For example, slot 1,2,3,4 can be merged into one switch button. Prone and couch can be grouped into a 3-step crouch button (stand, crouch, prone) like in CoD.
That leaves you with only having to account for looking, moving, stand-crouch-prone, jump (can be double tap on crouch button or on rest of screen), a switch button, a use button, and an everything else button, which will open the inventory menu from switching and crafting, etc. You can even combine switch and use. You swipe on the use button to switch. Etc. Neat tricks like that can bring the button count down.
Really now? So you're saying that Unturned will never reach a steady bugfix cycle where Nelson will be free to work on other things?
anyway, this just can't be done right now, it may be in the future, if Nelson ever decides to hire a few people to work for him, but as he said in the interview, he much prefers to work alone, as there will be less confusion and delay.
