Pump Jack to Water Pump conversion?

With the addition of being able to pump your own gas up from the ground, it seems logical to have a similar powered option for pumping clean water as well. Combined with existing storage options, this would allow for a fully functioning base of operations. Plant some seeds, and there you go, food and water for days.

Given that pumping clean water might be too much of a stretch, a method of boiling water in a canteen to turn dirty water into clean water would also be something that would be beneficial to have the option for. In this manner, you could craft a water pump, pump water, collect it in a canteen, and boil on the stove or over a campfire. The wooden bottles would not be able to be used in this instance as such items would burn in a fire or on a stove. At least in the logical sense.

Obviously, there would need to be a new model for the water pump, possibly animated in a similar manner to the pump jack, cause it looks neat.

Anyone care to expand on the idea or offer theirown suggestions for a working method?

it kind of seems unessesary considering we already have the rain barrels, which is already an alternative to the pump jack

Granted, though rain barrels are entirely dependent upon rain fall, which usually doesn't happen often enough to keep me in clean water, even with 6 barrels and a water storage, allowing me to fill the water water storage completely and have a full canteen to boot.

This is why I added the thought that clean water from a pump might be too much, but having it pump dirty water and then having a way to boil water instead of having to have purification tablets could be an alternative.

Of course, an "oil" pump, doesn't pump gasoline up from the ground in reality, there is a lot of work that goes into converting crude pumped oil into gasoline, though that could be simulated by crafting crude oil together with chemicals and such to create gas. Given that we pump gas directly without any of that fooling about, clean water being pumped out of the ground doesn't actually seem to over powered. At least in retrospect.

A water generator is pretty unnecessary. The easiest way to get water is just to farm lettuce (15 food 20 water).
