Because... Why not? lol
Although airdrops can only go to one of a certain 32 locations (on Russia) it could still just call one to the nearest location.
It's a cool concept, but it's just going to make high tier loot too common and easier to get.
1) just use it in a walled off area that isn't their base, either having the walls far enough from the airdrop so it doesn't damage them or just salvage the walls before the explosion.
2) destroy the package after looting it, unless it explodes from being destroyed.
3) exploit it and use it to raid bases. If it really does explode from being destroyed, than raiders could just throw it at the side of a base, loot it, than leave the unfortunate owners of that base with a ticking time bomb that will almost inevitably explode and destroy half of the base.
Uhm if raiders use this exploding crate then the raiders must not able to place it in a claimed area or just a builded area. And it only must contain 1 super rare item and bunch of uncommon items. If you ever find a super rare airdrop signal beacon, it's still equivalent to a super rare weapon.
And btw, I agree on this idea.
