Food Vending Machines.
The title is self explanitory. How great would to be to be able to power up some food machines that dispense, chocolate bars, candy bars, chips, etc.

That's already a thing, they're usually close to the water dispensing ones.

Not in vanilla gameplay.

He means the machines with the blue glass door on them. They look like the fridges usually found at gas stations, but I could definitely see them as food vending machines. It wouldn't make much sense to have a random store-grade fridge in the other areas that they can be found in.

This is already a thing. Any of the blue or red vending machines can be powered and interacted with to drop drinks.

He doesn’t mean drinks, aztec. He means that there will be a vending machine next to the bepis and cola the would drop like a chip bag or something. That’s not actually in the game (I’m not sure) but if it isn’t then +1 for sure

Well I'm terribly sorry, drew1605. The drink vendors are all there are so far, and frankly nobody ever uses them. I mean, why would they? It means sticking a gene down just for one or two cans. So I'm gonna have to say there's very limited use of such an addition that it really isn't worth coding, especially with the upcoming 4.x version.

It definitely isn’t a big thing on my list, but every now and then I use the drink machines to refill my hydration when looting towns. It isn’t much to code because all you have to do is make a drink machine that instead vendors a chip bag. You change one line of code to dispense a different item and then change the texture of the object. Sometimes it’s the little things that count and it isn’t that much to ask.

I can imagine this being added and 98% of players look at the update logs and ask "what were they thinking adding a food vendor into the game when there's so much more interesting stuff to add or optimise".

If we're talking about 4.x now, I'd ditch the vending machines functionality entirely. All someone has to do is place one generator and then everyone brings there own gas. Fill it, get two free drinks, and siphon your gas back. For about 1% of your gas can you can consistently get more drinks.

It makes the game too easy, especially if you use them twice while looting a town (the recharge is about 1-2 minutes iirc). And almost no one breaks the generators because they're beneficial for everyone. Adding free food just makes it even easier. For 4.x there definitely shouldn't be any working vending machines to further encourage it's challenging gameplay. At this point vending machines bypass any challenge for water in 3 when exploited correctly, so I'd even remove the functionality for our current game.

How hard would it be to make it dispense certain #s and certain durability’s of food/drink from vending machines for different difficulties?(This is a legit question and I am actually hoping for an answer)

It should be relatively simple. He's already created the mechanic for it, twice (Red and Blue vending machine). All he has to do is make a yellow machine or a new model design and assign candy bars and chips.

How about you need to use coins on the vending machines
