Unless you have actually tested that it can cut trees down faster theres no real evidence that can suppport your anwser, although I'm pretty sure Fire Axe has longer range so your correct on that one
This increases the chopping rate but its only noticable when you upgrade.
The fire axe is a very common axe, but only cuts a pine at 8 swings (or 12.5%/swing)
For wood, you prefer the camp axe.
Now for damage, the camp axe would be the best for Beserking, going at 1.1 at the head, 0.6 at the spine (torso),0.3 for the arm and leg.
There was no damage shown for the fire axe.
