I wouldn't trust portcheckers then. It also says my port isn';t open, but I can host games that random people can join.
For the most part what is being shown is correct. While I'm not going to post a video what you need to do is depending on the router type get into your router and look for port forwarding or Games and Application Access. Once there you will see similar screen to the video. You have to just assign the actually NAT'd IP address something like 192.168.x.x( OF THE host Machine) assign the port to it and be sure to activiate it and Save. close that out run the server. goto What'smy IP get that Public IP and give that to your friends..
amen brother. I don't even understand the point of using third party software to complicate the process of hosting a server.. both for the host AND for anyone that joins.
Pick your router manufacturer and then your router and follow the guide. Pretty straight forward.
P.S. DON'T trust the port checkers as I have spent 2 hours banging my head against the wall, re-configuring the router because I thought something was wrong with it because port checkers said that my ports weren't open, only to find that they were indeed open. So again, do not trust those nifty port checker.
strongly agree.
Port checkers get false positive results because they get denied by the router's firewall in most cases and therefore are not reliable.
